Learning to build more effectively alongside other leaders. Experience has given me perspectives worth sharing, but it has also taught me to appreciate what others bring to the table. I’m drawn to partnerships where respect is mutual, learning goes both ways, and our combined efforts leave people better than we found them. Respectfully, Dr. Rob

Introduce Yourself to the Unified Leadership Academy
Welcome to Unified Leadership Academy. We want to know who is joining us, not just what you do. Tell us a little about yourself. 1. What is your name and where are you from? 2. What do you do, or what are you working toward? 3. Who do you currently lead? This could be a team, a business, a family, a community, or simply yourself. 4. What is something about you we would never know from your job title? 5. What do you hope to get from being part of Unified Leadership Academy? Do not worry about making this sound perfect. Just be yourself. Once you have introduced yourself, take a few minutes to read another member's introduction. Leave a comment, ask a question, or find something you have in common. Leadership begins with connection. Start making one.

@Javier Velasquez nice to meet you.
First in, last out?
Should a leader be the first one in and the last one out? One side says yes. You can't ask people to give their best if you aren't willing to. Your presence sets the standard, and people notice who shows up. The other side says that's exactly the problem. When the leader never leaves, the team learns that exhaustion is the expectation. It can also quietly say "I don't trust you to handle it without me." And a leader who never rests eventually leads from an empty tank. I have my own leanings on this one, but I want to hear yours first. Where do you land, and what experience taught you that?

@Susan Throop, outstanding perspective! Thank you for bringing such thoughtful insight to this discussion. I especially appreciate your question about whether we’re building dependency or capacity. That gets to the very heart of effective leadership! I couldn’t agree more that leadership is about more than setting an example. It’s about understanding what our example teaches others. There are certainly times when leaders must be first in and last out, particularly when establishing standards, developing teams, or navigating difficult circumstances. However, as a team matures, our responsibility shifts toward empowering others to lead confidently and independently. I’ve always believed that the true measure of leadership isn’t how much people depend on us, but how well we’ve prepared them to succeed without us. Your point reinforces something I emphasize through my T.I.M.E. Leadership Framework: Teach, Influence, Mentor, and Equip. Thank you again, Susan! This is exactly the kind of meaningful dialogue that helps us challenge conventional thinking, examine our leadership practices, and become better leaders. Excellent contribution!
