Those who were able to go to ConVENTion, what was your greatest memory and why? Share them with the group.

Performing for the senior spotlight! This was only my second time to attend, and last year was great! But this year was spectacular! Every seminar, and especially the performances were phenomenal. I’m not sure I have laughed so hard as I did Saturday night for Max Fulham. And seeing Willie Tyler and Lester was the icing on the cake. I could go on and on. Great convention!

Ventriloquist retirement home, Gig
I have a question and I need. Hope you guys have the answer help me out with this. I am trying maybe to get out a little bit meaning trying to test the watchers to see how much I would do in a retirement home with my ventriloquist act with my characters what are suggestions I should do and retirement home

I do a LOT of retirement homes. I love performing for senior adults, but be prepared for a few things 1. You need a sound system or they can’t hear 2. Activity directors want you to fill an hour which is too much. I use to try and most of the audience can’t sit that long. Instead I tell them up front my show is 45 minutes and then I hang out with those who want to stay around for another 10-15 minutes. They love interacting individually with the puppets. 3. Most retirement homes submit your invoice on the day of the event (or after) so pay usually comes around a month after the performance depending on their pay structure. I’m not a fan, but it is what it is. Overall, performing for senior adults can be a blast. I think they often love it more than kids. But as with any audience, there are challenges. For me the rewards outweigh the challenges though. Good luck!

Don't be afraid to try new things.
I perform for both family and corporate events. I recently was asked by a regular client if I could perform a dinosaur show. At first, I said no than I talked with a few of my entertainer friends and they said why not give it a try. I started to do some research and purchase some new characters, magic tricks and now I have a real cool family fun dino show. Not only that the one client has turned into 30 new clients who wanted a dino show for their library or special event. The old saying "build it and they will come" is so true. The key is to find out what clients are looking for and fill the need. Happy Summer

Anyone Like Wooden Figures
If so, why? Why do you prefer wooden figures? I know most vents use soft puppets now but let’s hear from you.

I've always used soft puppets, but I am fascinated by the wooden characters. I'm amazed at what they can do with the wooden figures.
