Gardening in 10 steps
Key steps include fostering healthy soil, encouraging biodiversity, conserving water, and avoiding chemicals to build a resilient, low-maintenance garden. 1. Focus on soil health by adding compost, composted manure, and worm castings to feed microorganisms rather than using chemical fertilizers. 2. Avoid synthetic pesticides and herbicides, which kill beneficial insects, beneficial microbes, and disrupt the food chain. 3. Grow native plants to create a resilient, low-maintenance garden that provides natural habitats and food for local pollinators and wildlife. 4. Apply 2–3 inches of organic mulch to keep roots cool, retain soil moisture, prevent erosion, and naturally suppress weeds. 5. Plant a wide variety of flowers, herbs, and vegetables to attract beneficial insects that prey on pests, reducing the need for pest control. 6. Remove weeds manually when young to avoid disrupting the soil structure, rather than relying on chemicals. 7. Water at the base of plants early in the morning to reduce evaporation and disease, ensuring deep root growth rather than shallow, frequent watering. 8. Start a compost pile to turn garden and kitchen waste into nutrient-rich organic matter for your soil, mimicking natural nutrient cycling. 9. Select plants and vegetable varieties known to thrive in your specific climate zone to reduce plant stress and disease. 10. Spend daily time in the garden to understand its ecosystem, catching issues early and allowing nature to guide changes. Enjoy eating the fruits of your labor with no chemicals or preservatives. Most of all have fun!!!!

It is a beautiful green garden. Peet moss and compost really helps them.

Plumbing
Saturday the 18th I will be finishing some water lines for a whole home re-pipe. Someone else started it and unfortunately passed away. I will post pics and discuss the process.

10 Steps to changing engine oil.
1. Gather Supplies: Purchase the correct oil type/viscosity (check owner’s manual), new oil filter, filter wrench, drain pan, socket wrench, gloves, and rags. 2. Warm Engine & Lift Vehicle 3. Locate Drain Plug & Oil Filter: Identify the oil pan drain plug and the oil filter under the engine. 4. Drain Old Oil: Place the drain pan underneath, remove the oil filler cap (under the hood) to help it drain, and carefully remove the drain plug to let the oil drain for about 10 minutes. 5. Remove Old Filter: Use the filter wrench to remove the old oil filter, ensuring the old rubber gasket comes off with it. 6. Install New Filter: Lubricate the rubber gasket on the new filter with new oil, then screw it on by hand until it makes contact, plus an additional 3/4 turn. 7. Replace Drain Plug: Clean the drain plug area, reinstall the plug (using a new gasket/washer if necessary), and tighten it securely with a wrench, avoiding over-tightening. 8. Add New Oil: Use a funnel to fill the engine with the required amount and type of new oil, then replace the oil filler cap. 9. Check for Leaks: Start the engine and let it idle for 1-2 minutes while checking underneath for any leaks around the filter or drain plug. 10. Verify Oil Level & Recycle: Turn off the engine, lower the car, wait a minute, and check the oil level with the dipstick, adding more if necessary. Take the used oil and filter to a recycling center.
