今日のクイズ ✈️ – Let’s Learn Travel Japanese!
When you travel in Japan, you’ll often need to ask for directions or talk about transportation. Let’s learn how to use 〜で (de) and 〜に (ni) — they’re small but very important! 💡 Mini Lesson 〜で (de) shows how or by what means you go somewhere. 🚌 バスで行きます。(Basu de ikimasu.) → I go by bus. 🚄 しんかんせんで東京へ行きます。(Shinkansen de Tōkyō e ikimasu.) → I go to Tokyo by bullet train. 〜に (ni) shows the destination. 東京に行きます。(Tōkyō ni ikimasu.) → I go to Tokyo. 学校に行きます。(Gakkō ni ikimasu.) → I go to school. So you can combine them: 👉 しんかんせんで東京に行きます。 (Shinkansen de Tōkyō ni ikimasu.) → I go to Tokyo by bullet train. 🥢 Beginner Quiz Which of these means “I go to Kyoto by bus”? a) バスで京都に行きます。(Basu de Kyōto ni ikimasu.) b) 京都でバスに行きます。(Kyōto de basu ni ikimasu.) c) バスを京都に行きます。(Basu o Kyōto ni ikimasu.) ⚔️ Intermediate Quiz Translate this into Japanese: “I came to Japan by airplane.” (Hint: airplane = ひこうき / hikōki, came = きました / kimashita) 🏯 Advanced Quiz Write a sentence using 〜で (de) and 〜に (ni) but with a different means of travel (for example, car, train, or on foot). Bonus: Add why you went there! 例: くるまでうみに行きました。さかなを食べました。 (Kuruma de umi ni ikimashita. Sakana o tabemashita.) → I went to the sea by car. I ate fish. 💬 Share your sentences below!

Particles
Japanese Particles — The Glue of the Language If verbs are the action and nouns are the things, then particles are the glue that hold everything together. They’re small, but they decide who’s doing what to whom — and even why. Let’s look at some key ones 👇 --- 🟢 は (wa) – Topic marker > わたしはせんせいです。 Watashi wa sensei desu. → “As for me, I’m a teacher.” It tells us what we’re talking about. --- 🔵 が (ga) – Subject marker > だれがきましたか。 Dare ga kimashita ka? → “Who came?” It points to the doer of the action — especially when introducing new information. --- 🟡 を (o) – Object marker > みずをのみます。 Mizu o nomimasu. → “I drink water.” It shows the direct object of the verb. --- 🟣 に / へ (ni / e) – Direction, destination > にほんへいきます。 Nihon e ikimasu. → “I’m going to Japan.” --- 🔴 で (de) – Location or means > バスでがっこうへいきます。 Basu de gakkou e ikimasu. → “I go to school by bus.” It means “by” or “at.” --- 💬 Your Challenge: Try writing your own sentence that uses at least three particles correctly! Example: > わたしはきょうカフェでコーヒーをのみます。 Today I’ll drink coffee at a café. Comment your sentence below! Ganbatte kudasai! Joe Sensei!

Today’s Quiz: ます vs る — The Art of Politeness
In Japanese, how you say something changes everything. It’s not just grammar — it’s a reflection of respect, closeness and social awareness. There are two common “faces” of every verb: ます form 食べます (tabemasu) eat / will eat polite, formal, respectful る form 食べる (taberu) eat / will eat casual, neutral, close relationships The meaning doesn’t change — the relationship does. --- You’re speaking to your Japanese teacher after class. Which sounds natural? a) 今日カレーを食べる。 Kyou karee o taberu b) 今日カレーを食べます。 Kyou karee o tabemasu --- You’re chatting with a close friend at lunch. Which one fits better? a) 今、食べます。 Ima, tabemasu b) 今、食べる。 --- 1️⃣ すぐ行く。 2️⃣ すぐ行きます。 3️⃣ すぐ行くね。 👉 Which would you use with your boss? Your best friend? Your classmate? How does adding 「ね」 change the mood? --- 💬 Comment your answers below! Try writing your own mini-dialogue using both ます and る forms. For example: > A: 明日何をしますか? B: 映画を見ます。 A: 明日何をする? B: 映画を見る。 That’s real Japanese balance — polite and natural.
