Where are you today?
Today, as we are about to get snowed in on the Carolina coast, I wanted to ask a question to this small group of men. Where are you in your faith walk? There is very little asked here in this group. What do you need? What , if anything would have a greater impact, and make you want you to come back here more often?

I am starting a 72-hour fast tonight. First, I ask for your prayers that God would sustain me. Second, I ask for your prayers that God would reveal Himself to me more deeply than I’ve allowed Him to in a long time.
Charcoal Fire
This phrase shows up in the Bible only two times and both times they are found in the Gospel of John. In Hebrew, it is pecham, and represents both the heat of God’s wrath against sin and refining fire that sanctifies. In Greek, it is anthrekia, and serves as the setting for Peter”s three-time denial of Jesus in John 18:18 and his subsequent restoration by Jesus in John 21:9. It blows my mind: John 18 records that in fear (but fulfilling Jesus’ words), Peter denies knowing Jesus three times. And in John 21, when Jesus asks Peter three times, “Do you love Me?” He is offering Peter the opportunity to affirm his love for Jesus. Failure is not final and divine forgiveness overcomes all human weakness. Jesus Christ often meets us in the very place of our failures to offer us redemption and restoration.

I like how you combined the Red Letter Devotion idea with the Iron Sharpens Iron idea. Red Letter Iron. Catchy.
The Catch
How many of you know that God can and will do infinitely greater things for you than you can ever do yourself? Read Luke 5:3-8. Professional fishermen who fished all night and caught nothing were instructed by Jesus to go back out and cast their nets again. Reluctantly - but obediently - Peter and his crew obey. The result. A catch so great that their nets were breaking. They even called over another boat to help them haul in the catch, which was so much that both boats began to sink. Perhaps you have been working at something in your own strength, power and expertise with little or no results. Take heart. Listen to the Holy Spirit speak to you. What is He saying? Then commit to doing it. God rewards faithfulness!
