People focus on the money and the fame, but that’s not the real focus. The real focus is excellence. Excellence is what brings you money. Excellence is what brings you fame. And the moment you start thinking about the fame and the money instead of thinking about excellence, you’ve lost your way.A lot of people lose their way. The money starts coming in, the fame starts coming in, and all of a sudden you’re just thinking about numbers. You’re thinking about the house you’re going to buy, the car you’re going to drive, all that stuff, and you lose your way. One of the things I always try to tell people, especially young comedians, is to think about attention like it has a numerical value. Imagine if you had a hundred dollars. You can only spend a hundred dollars. Your mind works the same way. You only have a certain number of units of focus. Any focus you put on things outside of what brings you excellence is stealing from excellence. That’s all it is. If you’re focused on haters on social media, or you have someone in your life who’s creating chaos, or you’ve got people around you who secretly want to see you fail, all of that is distracting. And it’s robbing attention from excellence. Some of that stuff is unavoidable. Some of it even builds resilience. It teaches you how to stay focused and still be excellent despite adversity. But your focus is precious. Protect your focus. Protect your time. Protect your energy. Your mind and your drive, that’s everything in your life. That’s all you really have. And anything that steals from that is dangerous. There are people in your life who will do that. Sometimes intentionally, sometimes not. They need attention. They need to feel important. And they’ll pull that focus away from what matters most to you. You have to recognize when you’re dealing with someone like that. And sometimes, you have to cut them out. Because they’re stealing from your focus. They’re stealing from your ability to create excellence. And excellence is what you’re in the business of.

Wat nou als het allemaal wel lukt? Wat gebeurt er dan? Hoeveel mensen heb je dan geholpen? Ik weet 1 ding. Als je opgeeft dan stopt wat je hebt opgebouwd, als je doorgaat zal je uiteindelijk bij je doel komen!

"If it doesn't grow corn..." is an evaluation technique I use to employ when faced with difficult decisions. Simply put: "If what you are doing, learning, feeling, saying or thinking isn't making your life and the lives of others around you any better, then why do it?" It asks us to question, simplify and focus our energy in ways that will improve all life. "Is it growing Corn?" is a question you can ask yourself about any choice in your life. If the answer is YES, continue. If it doesn't grow Corn, find another way.

Wat is het eerste wat je doet op zondagochtend om half 6, na een koude douche? De saleslessen van Appointly volgen natuurlijk! Ik kies er bewust voor om werk dat veel concentratie vraagt in de ochtend te doen, omdat ik dan het scherpst ben. Daarnaast werk ik mijn notities altijd bij en lees ik ze regelmatig terug, zodat de lessen echt blijven hangen. Wat ik iedereen die dit leest wil meegeven: sta eens stil bij welk moment van de dag jij het meest gefocust bent, en plan juist je moeilijkste werk op dat moment in.

Toen ik bij Appointly in Oktober ben gestart, begon de reis naar het worden van een Closer. Aankomende periode ga ik begeleid worden om een volwaardige closer te worden en daarbij wil ik zeggen dat ik het spannend vind, maar ook veel energie van krijg. Ik heb er zin in! 🙏🏼
