There Are No "Rules" ... Just suggestions/Guidelines
When framing a scene which I have decided "speaks" to me, I tend to mentally run through many suggested guidelines and determine which, if any, will improve what I am trying to capture and the image I hope to create.

Often we see "Read you manual". Do you follow that advice? Please use the comments answer the question and say how you read or why not .

I rarely read any manuals unless to find some specific information. Rather, I find nearly every piece of information on cameras and lenses available through various sources (many videos) on the Internet.

Good fodder to think about on every shoot. However, I opt to always shoot with a silent shutter as I have discovered that my results when creating candid/street images are far better as I generally have my subject more relaxed and not tense waiting for the click.
