Questions I ask myself often
Is the condition of my marriage one that if my children had the same condition in their marriage, would I feel proud of them? Is my marriage (since its defining what marriage is for my children) the definition God wants my children to have of what marriage is? Does my marriage look like God’s definition of marriage? Do I know God’s definition? If any one of these has a hint of a “no” in their answer, my next questions for myself are also a prayer: Lord, what do I need to change? And what do I need to receive from you to make those changes?

Thank you for this. We should all be asking ourselves these questions regularly. I need to start using them. They are simple, easy to remember but so powerful as they really help to check ourselves and give us awareness of what are we really cultivating in our homes.
Marriage is more than partnership…
Marriage not just as a partnership but a divine tool for personal soul correction.

It’s something I realized I used to do a lot. I have to be aware most of the time to not keep doing it
Gardeners or Carpenters
Jesus grew up as a Carpenter. Later, He was mistaken for a Gardener. Which is He? Both. He both builds and grows things with us, in and through us. One key to healthy family is to recognize when He’s which. Is He wanting to build something in us right now? Or grow something? So often, we try to build things when He’s growing something else and grow things when He’s building. This is true not only in us as families, but also individually.

God! How I needed this reminder right now! Thank you!
Lifelong commitment by C.S. Lewis
“The Christian idea of marriage is based on Christ’s words that a man and wife are to be regarded as a single organism—for that is what the words ‘one flesh’ would be in modern English. And the Christians believe that when He said this He was not expressing a sentiment but stating a fact—just as one is stating a fact when one says that a lock and its key are one mechanism, or that a violin and a bow are one musical instrument.”
