New Rider Bestie lol
Biker life is funny. I ran into a girl-rider at the mechanic this Monday. She was pulling up as I was leaving. I screamed "a girl!" and she came over and we totally fan-girled over each other. LOL She told me she didn't know anyone else who rides. We immediately exchanged numbers and spent like 2 hours texting later that night and have been texting every day since. The first night texting, I ended up saying something like "now that we're rider-besties...." and laughed. She was like, "it's so funny that you said that because when I got home I told my husband that I made a best-friend today at the mechanic" LOL Unfortunately, she found out yesterday her bike is shot and it's not worth repairing. :( So I offered to go mc shopping with her since her hubby doesn't ride and she doesn't know anyone else who rides. That's what besties do. LOL I literally know her less than a week but we connected immediately. Biker-life is like being a kid but as adults. We met and connected over riding a bike (and the color pink) LOL

Biker life is definitely an adult kid. At least I have my husband to ride with. I’m still changing camera spots because I’m just not happy about most of the videos I’ve taken. I told him this would be solved with a POV camera and he looked at me like I have two heads then laughed. I’ll eventually wear him down especially since he’s thinking of filming on his retirement toy. Pilots never retire, they end up buying something to fly. 🤣
First wreck
Hi Everyone, I am writing here since I feel embarrassed to say anything to my friends or family. I got my first bike about 5 days ago. I took the MSF course in January of 2026. I rode the bike around my neighborhood for the past 5 nights, watching DanDans intro videos + MotoJitsu. I am aware of how dangerous it is and take it very seriously. I was practicing figure 8's, U-turn's, etc. Today I was planning to go to a parking lot across the street to work on more drills. Instead I made a turn and ran into a parked car. I tried to grab the front brake but of course hit the gas as I tried to do so. I lost control and dumped the bike. My leg is a little banged up but otherwise so injuries. The radiator is definitely damaged and the headlight is bent. Feeling pretty embarrassed and frustrated by this since I was on my way to practice. Brand new bike too.

@Arlene Baratta oh boy. I’m sure I’ll start accumulating silly stuff as I put more time on the bike. I bonked myself on the helmet several times while recording the other day. 🤪

@Arlene Baratta that’s hilarious! I hope you were able to wash it all out uff
Off road practice
So my husband kindly let me know I was not shifting correctly off road. After watching a video I realized he’s absolutely correct. So today I went around the property trying out up shifting at certain points and standing up at others. The video is here, I’m still not sure I’ll keep the camera there, I managed to hit it a couple of times when standing. All my mistakes are in the video, @Daniel Tolomei , and everyone else, if you watch let me know what you think I can improve on. I hope you enjoy the tour lol PS: No, I was not wearing full gear because I’m going slow and I’m in our property and it’s too damned hot here. We’ve had several 104+ days in a row so it was just leggings and an spf shirt plus helmet, boots (I’m saving up for proper off road boots these will not do) and gloves.

@Vincent Ekstrom I know I’m up shifting to second in spots I shouldn’t, I’m pretty much shifting as if it’s a car and that won’t do.

@Jorge Gutierrez thank you. It’s been very fun to do. And I need to build those skills as the husband wants to do a Big Bend trip in the fall. We have 2 dry creeks that run through the property so riding here gives me enough challenge.
Back on the saddle
Mom is gone back home so i can ride again! Got in a nice 2 hour round trip lunch ride. Got the microphone working and I hate my voice. I managed to delete almost an hour of footage from the first leg while editing 🤦🏻‍♀️. Got that second leg to edit let’s see what comes out of it. That second leg I led the ride and I’m definitely more comfortable leading than the first time I did it around our area. Is so nice to be able to ride but lunch time is now too hot for me. I was a bit gassed when we got home. Well definitely do earlier rides for the next few weeks. Question: if you are using a camera how many times have you switched the position. I’m still not happy with my setup, I may end up doing the “drone” shot and see how that goes.

@Arlene Baratta yeah this whole tethering thing is why I haven’t used the drone shot yet. I do have my stick attached in two spots so that may be better. I’ll just ride around the property and see how that works, it’s bumpy enough to test if it works itself loose.

@Arlene Baratta I hope lol
New in the Classroom: Motorcycle Crash RESQ
Hey Crew! You are more likely to be first on scene at somebody else's crash than to be in one yourself. Most riders have never once thought about that. SMART Rider: Motorcycle Crash RESQ is live in the Classroom now: https://www.skool.com/smart-rider-crew-3737/classroom/906440e3?md=4c4524892a5a49e78f31c015f37351be Get to level 3 in the chat and it opens up! RESQ is a four step sequence for the rider standing at a crash before EMS gets there: 1. Remain Calm 2. Ensure Your Own Safety 3. Stop Major Bleeds 4. Quickly Assess Severity Start with Introduction to RESQ & Downloads. There is a video walking the method end to end, plus the downloads, then each step gets its own lesson in order. Two things worth saying plainly. This is bystander level training. It is not a replacement for a certified course. If you can get into a Stop the Bleed class in person, go do that too. And this has nothing to do with your riding skill. You do not need to be advanced. A rider who picked up their first bike last week can learn this in an afternoon, and it is probably the highest value afternoon they will spend all year. Go to Classroom → SMART Rider: Motorcycle Crash RESQ and start at the top. Your gear is what protects you. RESQ is what you do for somebody else.
