I hope things can change
My name is Joel. I live in new jersey, USA. I work as a case Manager in New York. I have been trying to break into tech especially in IAM domain. I have been studying but i have not been able to put the pieces together. I need a mentor. I hope i can made headway here especially after seeing your videos online.

My NJ brethren!!! I used to be there before I moved to get away from the cold. If I can offer some insight, it will be hard. Although you are in a opportunity dense state(or at least close to major cities if you in mid/south jersey) Its going to be a challenge. @Joel Jay @Keon Fraser-Morrison Lowest hanging fruit is MSP, School Districts, NOC companies. MSP is probably going to be more open because of the amount of companies in NY/NJ/PA that they can service. IAM is not entry level. Its entry level cyber. Cybersecurity isnt entry level. Like Srinath sad, do the lab, get better understanding. But I personally know a guy who is struggling to break into IAM because he refuses to go work IT Support or Help Desk for 6 months to a year. Trust me, you have to compete with people with 2-5yrs experience. So you either get really good to skip the line. I have 10 years of experience in the space in different positions. You have to compete with folks like me (this isnt to discourage you....you could be better than me or anyone else at your interviewing skills. I am just saying you have to put in that work!!!!) Go do an Active Directory lab, some M365/Intune at the same time you are doing the IAM to get better skills with handling user permissions and access. This gets you a step above someone who only does certs or degree
Starting on Hybrid Lab
Got my DC on proxmox and spun up some stuff in Azure. Also going to start studying for my SC-300 Anyone else studying?

Would OpenIAM or KeyCloak be good options?

Recording now in the Classroom
See screenshot attached. If you missed Sunday's live session on the IAM lab, the recording is in the Classroom tab. We walked through a full Joiner and Leaver workflows end to end, HR data in, account provisioned, LDAP updated. You can start building on your own, a IAM system, with the OVA download linked in Module 3. Go at your own pace, the lab files are all there. Post any issues faced under Lab Help category as new post. Also help others if you are ahead of the learning curve. Let's do these calls every 2 weeks.
