Building with grassy fields attempt 1
Obviously, my attempt at that lovely grass did not come off well using a fan brush. I think that may have more to do with my inexperience with the brush then the brush is fault! I do seem to recall, though that there is another kind of brush that’s supposed to work for painting grass, and I think it might have worked better. But I don’t have one! :-) Suggestions are appreciated. As to what happened with the grass, I think the fan brush created more of a fun missed effect as opposed to individual grass stocks, and thus ended up making the squash in yellows and very pale yellows just mud against the black background. I played around with it a little to see if I could rescue it, but I’m not surethat it was very successfully done. I certainly would hope I could do better.

@Gloria Livingstone thank you! I’m mostly just complaining because I was trying so hard to get that four ground grass to look really good. That’s the big thing I loved about the reference. I haven’t given up yet, but I think it’s going to take some more research before I can figure out just how to go about getting something that more closely resembles that beautiful swooping grass in the front.

@Joseph Siemer I really like how vivid this turned out! And also how minimal the detail was in this. doing those things actually made the four ground grass, much more obvious and not tentative, which is what I thought. My grass was in my attempt. The thing I liked at least about my own version of this was how muddy I ended up with the grass in general. You avoided that completely! by sticking to the basics of working light too dark.i still tnink in acrylics first!
Frustrated ! lol
I understand why artists paint the same thing over and over. There are so many things I could have done better or that I didn't see the first time. Ugh! Any tips on painting "glow" is appreciated. I started out trying to do a two color painting. Oh hell, that just blew up.

Can’t wait to see them all of this! My first thought when I saw it was Pac-Man gone viral!
Practice with just two colors
Technically it's pen & ink and two colors. Sorry about the shadow; the lighting wasn't good.

I love how the warm Brown of the barn makes me feel juxtaposed to all that snow! Such a nice feeling this gives you.
Hi everyone, here’s my first post.
Good evening! This afternoon I tried working on one of the suggested landscapes that Joey published earlier in the week, and here’s my take on the trees in fog. I had fun painting it! Never tried using just one color to make a whole picture. Wow! That was way easier than I thought it might be!
Hi everyone, here’s my first post.
