Howโ€™s the weather where you are?
We got 14 eggs for the first time in forever the other day. Now getting a decent amount since the weather has warmed a tad. Much better than the 1-2 we were getting! Def looking forward to more spring weather and itโ€™s warming up quick here in Texas. Hope youโ€™re all starting to see some spring come your way!

It was almost 70ยฐF here in Missouri today. I got a lot of spring clean up done in the backyard today. The girls were super helpful lol! They helped dig holes, turned the compost, relocated piles that I raked, oversaw and inspected my progress. Idk how I'd get anything done without them haha! Tomorrow my hubby and I are building raised garden beds.

Well, the weather flip flipped and it's been cold again. Then in a couple of days it's going to be almost 80! Ridiculous weather. Spent the weekend in the garden building raised garden beds then digging out and leveling soil. Almost done but I ran out of steam!
Something some of you know...and the rest will want to.
I haven't said anything about our business in here for the reason that I want to make sure this community stays flowing with great conversations and information all related to chickens. That is the ultimate goal for this community and I've seen some amazing conversations, helpful posts and tons of great stuff so far! But I would be holding back if I didn't tell you about the business we run here that is right up the alley of most of you chicken tenders. As some of you know, we run a brand called The Chicken Bawks. It's a monthly tshirt subscription and other chicken apparel focused solely on the love of chickens. We've been doing this since 2020 and have a solid portfolio of reviews and our commitment to making amazing chicken tees for the backyard tender community. We currently ship to every state in the US every single month and we LOVE doing it! So while I'll keep this few and far between in terms of "promotion" I want to be forward about myself and the brand behind this community. Our first focus is to build this into a community larger than our brand and reach new chicken tenders with a great place to find awesome chicken info and other people to connect with. That will remain the focus but thought you should also know about our tees. Feel free to give us a look, we just happen to be running some special deals this weekend and you can get in on it if you want. At what point did you realize chickens werenโ€™t just a hobby anymore? ๐Ÿ˜…
Curious what you think and what you believe got you to the place you are now.

Bantams
Iโ€™ve had a sorted chickens now for about five years, but I just got my first Sea Bright bantam. It is a rooster. Does anyone know if they need special attention or can he free range with the rest of them? I have three other roosters.

I've heard that specialty breeds like Silkies, Frizzles, crested chickens, and bantams are more prone to being bullied by standard hens. I don't have personal experience with this, but my smaller standard hens definitely get bullied. Of course, that doesn't mean it will happen. Just be aware it's possible. Most people I know with mixed flocks keep their specialty breeds as a separate flock.
