Tender advice
What’s the #1 mistake you made early on that you’d save others from? No judgment — just wisdom. I’ll go first. We jumped in head first with 20 chicks of all different breeds. It was fun but we ended up with about half of them roosters. I’d recommend finding what purpose you have for them and then sticking with a couple breeds designed for that. Don’t just go with all the fun breeds you can find. Also, have a second coop ready and available for if you have to quarantine early. 😅

@Sadik El yahyaoui Are you worried about rodents eating their feed, or the girls eating rodents! Because chickens can and will eat mice and small rats. I've never had a problem with rodents, but I have two dogs and the neighborhood is full of feral cats.

The four spring chicks I raised this year follow me around like a dog. I got them as day old hatchlings, so we bonded really well. My first 8 girls follow me around sometimes, but not like these 4. I got them at Tractor Supply Co. when they were 9-10 days old. They all treat me like a mother and a rooster, but we didn't get that imprinting time together.

@Jaime Garey Every night I give the girls a treat before bedtime. They come running to the door to meet me, and all walk right in front and under foot the whole way to the coop. For me, going nuts is a short drive haha!
