Confession time... what's in your hospital bag snack stash?
Because if you've done one of my classes, you'll know I'm a big fan of packing snacks to keep everyone's energy up. Labour can be hard work. The hours after birth can be even hungrier. And hospital toast only goes so far!! Over the years I've seen everything packed: • muesli bars • lollies • dried fruit • chocolate • crackers • trail mix • electrolyte drinks • sandwiches • chips protein balls And yes... I've had parents tell me they packed an entire family-sized bag of their favourite snacks and had absolutely no regrets. So let's help each other out. What snacks are making the hospital bag cut for you? Or if you've already had your baby, what snack were you most grateful you packed? Bonus points for anything unusual or unexpectedly brilliant!

Yum! All of the above! ;p (& Extra mint chewing gum), some extra treats for the best staff is generally received with much gratitude. Dried fruit like Apricots & Prunes, (or butter stuffed dates) are very helpful to aid your softer stools & the Weleda Breastfeeding Tea (& some homemade Congee & breastfeeding cookies with their properties helping bring plenty of great 'liquid gold'in for mummas + bubs! <3 xoxo
The baby has a name… and then there's the bump name.
I've heard some great ones over the years. Bean. Peanut. Nugget. Poppy. Bubba. Little Miss. The Tenant. The Parasite (yes, really!). Jack. Sometimes the nickname sticks long before parents settle on an actual name. Sometimes it's based on the baby's size when you first found out. Sometimes it's inspired by their personality. And sometimes it just appears out of nowhere and somehow becomes official. So I'm curious... What are you calling your baby bump right now? Or if you don't have a nickname yet, what are some of the funniest ones you've heard? Let's see what creative names are hiding in this community.

Important update from this boutique weekend antenatal class…
I broke my pelvis🫣 Before anyone panics, it was the pelvic model, not my actual pelvis. After 20+ years of teaching birth education, running classes, demonstrating labour positions, and passing this poor pelvis around hundreds of times… this weekend was apparently the time it decided it had finally done enough. There was no dramatic snap or chaos. Just a quiet little moment where I realised parts of the pelvis were no longer attached to other parts of the pelvis. Honestly, it felt very symbolic of parenting and birth preparation in general - sometimes things fall apart unexpectedly and you just carry on while laughing. The class handled it beautifully, and thankfully everyone found it as amusing as I did. So now I’m officially in the market for a new pelvis. Requirements include: • educational • durable • emotionally resilient • capable of surviving antenatal classes🤣 If anyone knows of a pelvic model built like a tank, let me know. Janine
