Videogame producer with 26yrs exp by day. Generative Content Producer by night. Currently using AI to test some theories and learn more about prompting correctly. I make music with AI now (I write most of if not all of the lyrics and the drums for most of the music) I construct a loop or the first 2 min of a song then AI helps me finish it. It's a project to see how AI music can evolve and what a studio musician can actually gain from it. aside from getting almost 2000 hours back of time to make things. I have figured out how to evolve a "bands" sound as if natural progression. which has been fascinating and...I've made some solid music. If you are interested in seeing some of it https://musiclabs.bandcamp.com/ Pimp X is all me making music the old fashioned way, Geezah is also all me as they are songs I made years ago (14tb worth of unfinished stuff btw) that I couldn't finish. AI helped and gave them a voice. 3 Kings is Alt Metal like Rage against the Machine meets System of a Down Kinetikill is female fronted prog metal In Static is Prog metal (only band that uses real musicians btw for all things except singing) Goliath is Technical Death Metal Luna Flare is an idol pop band (3 of the personas in this are in Kinetikill) Red Giant is my newest project, its a 70's hard rock band All Is Not Lost is my next project and its like Biffy Clyro meets MUSE meets The Beatles. The thing I noticed so far? AI can repro CURRENT music genres with very little issue. it is VERY hard for it to make music like the classics, (Zeppelin, Beatles, Who, Doors, Stones) it has a VERY hard time making anything that sounds good or decade correct. With most times it being country rock or music like DOWN or Opeth. I also own RetroNation a reseller of Japanese retro Videogames. https://www.facebook.com/groups/retronation2019

If you're here, you're probably over 40 and fighting the same fight I am. Sending out resumes that disappear into the void. Getting ghosted by recruiters. Watching younger people get hired for jobs you're overqualified for. Wondering if you're unemployable or if the entire system just broke while you weren't looking. You're not imagining it. The job market is brutal right now. Especially for us. I'm 57. I've been freelancing for over 20 years. I have a degree. I use AI tools every day. I'm faster and better at my work than I've ever been. And I still can't get hired. Not because I'm not good enough. Because companies don't want to invest in people like us anymore. We're too expensive. Too experienced. Too likely to know our worth and not accept garbage wages. This group exists because we're all dealing with the same thing. And most of us are doing it alone. Scrolling LinkedIn at 2am wondering what we're doing wrong. Applying to jobs we're overqualified for and still not getting callbacks. Trying to figure out how to rebuild a career in a market that decided we're disposable. You're not alone. That's why we're here. Drop a comment and introduce yourself. Where are you? What kind of work are you looking for? What's your biggest struggle right now? Let's actually talk about this. Let's help each other. Let's stop pretending this is normal and start figuring out how to survive it together. Welcome. I'm glad you're here.

56 Been a producer in the games industry since 1996. My last day at my current job is Dec 1 then i'm unemployed. Taking off until Feb to go to my house in Japan and think about my next steps. Part of me is terrified, part of me is excited. Not sure I want to do things in games anymore. Not sure anyone would hire me anyway.

@Jason Weiland Could be. I have Retronation which has been a side hustle since 2016. I import and sell Japanese Retro videogames. The only thing that excites me now is AI. This is what I've been waiting for since I was 10 and now it's here. I remember watching WarGames (movie) and coding a rudimentary system that would allow my colecovision ADAM to " talk to me" in the morning. super simple, but I wanted it. It's that age thing man. it screws me here. I am getting certification in prompt engineering thru google and I am using the AI tools daily. I make music with it, videos, art, and of course for work have been using it for spreadsheets, Training Documentation, etc. if I can get around that age hurdle I may be ok.
