So lovely to meet everyone. Thanks for a great morning!
Alpha
What a boy! @Tegan Kelly Just working on some structured outlet with the amazing Alpha. He has wonderful drive and got the game really quickly. Building a solid play outlet from the handler helps builds impulse control, relationship and trust. Actively bringing the toy back to re-engage with me is absolutely wonderful!

Love to see it! He definitely loves to play
Is my dog aggressive?
I have had a couple of recent interactions at the dog park recently where Alpha has had to be separated from other dogs, and it has left me feeling a bit lost about how to approach letting him play going forward. Both times involved intact males that were larger than Alpha and similarly confident/dominant play styles. When Alpha was “corrected” by the other dogs (because he was being annoying - trying to take their ball or in their face when they didn’t want to play) it turned into aggression and the dogs had to be separated. It seems to me like frustration more than any aggression, as there is no real biting or “attack” and once separated and taking a moment to relax, Alpha is eager to continue playing. He loves other dogs and plays so well with lots of other dogs, especially big high energy dogs. I used to be really comfortable introducing Alpha to new dogs, warning people he is excitable but not aggressive. These last couple of interactions have rocked me a little and I’m not sure how to best take this forward. I’m was thinking maybe I should start muzzling him, at least when playing with new dogs? Would love to hear your insights and suggestions.

Thanks both! This is super helpful and given me the reassurance and direction I needed. Seriously - I’d be lost without this community and your guidance!! I think we’ll steer clear of dog parks for now and focus on some more fun recall games, limiting play time with other dogs to known dogs and environments (and stepping in when he gets over excited). Will let you know how we go!

Hey Nathan! Not sure if I’ll make the live so putting a question here. The reactive dog session with Willow was really helpful to watch but had one question on how to best approach this in practice on a walk. If another dog is coming past or on the other side of the road and Alpha dog is excited/reactive, should we stop and practice being calm until the distraction has passed or keep walking/pulling him away?
