Roundabouts
Whats your go to when teaching roundabouts? How do you make it simple to do? Do you have issues teaching them? If you could give yourself one bit of advice that would have helped in your early days, what would it have been?

I usually start with taking left first exit and compare to a left turn with slightly different variations in observations. By this point they are aware of and have had experience of MSPSL for junctions so then discuss additional layers of knowledge and skills for what to do on the roundabout and then when I move on to following the road ahead or right then what to do when exiting.
Subjects
What subjects do you find most troublesome to teach? Parking? Roundabouts? Anything else? What do you think could help you?

I find it tricky to do reverse bay parking (90degree). The process and observations I am fine with but it’s getting the starting point that suits my pupil that is trickier and takes time. Also trying to coach them to be able to make minor adjustments. In the early days with some pupils, steering is tricky. Any tips would be good for this esp for one of my pupils. Not sure what would be best for help. Think lots of it is just me working with the pupil 🤔
Debrief
Whats your thoughts on josh's debrief? Could we have added anything in? Was it encouraging? Did the lesson show that josh had progressed? Did josh feel more confident? Was a plan set? Was anything outside our goal an issue for josh?

This is helpful. Good open questions, pupil made progress and was happy with his progress. He was able to identify areas that he still needs to improve/get less help on and clear goals set at the end. Interested to know if there is anything others would add in?

@Corey Walker I often ask my pupils what went well/most proud of/made most progress on. Then I ask them what they would do differently/what area they feel needs more work/support and use this to make a goal for next session. Ultimately you did do this through the conversation you had. The scaling part is something I often miss in the brief then kick myself when I come to debrief!

The videos are very helpful Corey. I don’t think I’ve ever got a new pupil up to 3rd gear on first lesson. I worry that I don’t give prompts in good time. I have definitely got better but sometimes forget what has been agreed 🙈
