Yellowing shirts
Good morning, gents! I’m back at work this week, and with the summer heat (plus carrying a rucksack), I’m trying to avoid the dreaded sweat-stained shirt. It feels like a problem we’ve all been battling for years. I’ve already switched to linen shirts, which definitely helps keep me cooler, but it doesn’t completely solve the problem. Here’s my dilemma: if I wear an undershirt, I end up feeling even hotter and sweating more. If I skip the undershirt, I still sweat and risk staining my white and light blue shirts. So what’s the best solution? Are there any tricks, fabrics, or products you’ve found that genuinely help keep shirts looking fresh in hot weather? My only other option is turning up to the office shirtless… but I suspect HR might have a few questions. 😅

1. Do not wear a ruck. Get a briefcase or weekend bag. Rucks are for outdoors and kids. Sorry, I am adamant on this regardless of whether some influencer promote expensive designer versions of backpacks. This will help with back sweat. 2. Wear another top during commute and change once you get to office. 3. Ensure the linen shirts aren't too tight, and that they in fact are 100% linen. 4. Do not wear an undershirt. There is nothing dorkier than a linen shirt with a T-shirt underneath.

Dressing well when traveling
The flight is getting ready to board and many of us are sitting around or standing near the gate. The captain and first officer walk up to board and the captain looks right at mye points, and says “good afternoon sir.” Not a shock that I am the only one dressed with a tie. I did see a woman elsewhere that was dressed better than me.

You can dress comfortably for travel and still look elegant. I usually travel in wider cut trousers, maybe flannel, high-twist wool or even linen depending on season. Add a shirt, an overshirt or blazer, a pair of slip-in shoes (I prefer yacht loafers or laceless ankle boots for travel) and a pair of sunglasses. Voila!

@Dr. Jason Cole I want to look like I am going to where I am going. Going to Italy in summer? High-waisted suit trousers, yacht loafers, open collar shirt (one piece or camp), overshirt or unconstructed blazer if it gets cold. Switzerland in winter? Cashmere rollneck, corduroy trousers, laceless ankle boots, wool car coat in the overhead compartment. I don't dress for my current network, I dress to extend it.
