Post and comments

I haven't sent out an email broadcast in months. This week there has happened to be two announcements that need to be broadcasted. Very frustrating to write out the whole post only to be told I can't broadcast it.

Hey all. I've started using Skool as a front-end marketing group instead of a back-end product group. Is anyone else doing this? Attached is the model I'm using. The key differences to the model most in here use: - No ads - No direct outreach - No sales tactics - No content treadmill - Focus on audience building (specifically YouTube) - Focus on community - Using Skool as a marketing community, not product community I ran the new model past Sam and he said he liked it! I also asked for permission to post this here and he said yes. I think this new model is a game-changer for getting to $100k/m profit. I know it's quite difficult to get the full picture from the image, so if you need more info then just comment "Loom" and I'll send you a Loom fully explaining the model. Hope it helps.

    Awesome!! Thanks @Sid Sahasrabuddhe @Nick Guadagnoli @Sam Ovens !!!!

It's possible I've missed it, but I'm looking to be able to display posts in my group reverse-chronologically, not popularity-based. This is a productivity-killer if the latter cannot be disabled. Ever since Facebook switched that feed mode to popularity-based a few years ago, my productivity in groups went downhill. I'm worried about exactly the same in Skool because I don't think "popularity-based" feed display can be turned off. Maybe I'm mistaken, though I don't recall seeing a setting. It's much easier for all members to give other group members' posts love if a post isn't hopping all over the timeline. Also will be easier to administrate? thanks + cheers

I'm considering hosting my course on Skool, right now it's on Kajabi. I have over 50 videos and 250+ members who've paid £997. Problem is, someone can easily share my entire course as the links aren't hidden behind the group entry screen. I really want to host here but I need to ensure my content doesn't get pirated. My course has been requested a few times on piracy websites but it's hosted privately on Kajabi so it's well protected. I'd just love this feature on here. Just a screen that says - "You must be a member of this group to see this classroom" Would love to hear your thoughts @Sid Sahasrabuddhe @Nick Guadagnoli

All Skools have a Library! Can you make a Library so we can see all courses Skool creators offer. This is a great community and I would like to buy a course and be a part of communities that I may be interested in.

Is it possible to turn off the levels of each person in the group? This can easily be misinterpreted like what level my students are at in their development and doesn't not work well for my niche.

    @Shane Olson I agree. Like awarding points for level of course completion, in addition to it tracking progress on the profile page. Or awarding points for particularly good posts, that don't necessarily get a lot of organic comments or likes. Someone could have a great point, but not have a great headline, or for whatever reason it's not really noticed.

How do you set a course to become available when (for example) someone reaches level 3?

    @Sid Sahasrabuddhe Right. Thanks, Sid. I was talking about being able as an admin, or automatically via Skool, having course progress add points . . .

  • 1 like • Aug 22

    @Mareya Ali Right. But I'm talking about completing course modules giving them points, not the other way around . . .

We have a course for executives, VCs & leaders. They often do not remember to log into Skool (even if it is pinned to their home screens). Can there be a away to be notified, other than emails (as it gets too much sometimes) ? Are we looking at a mobile app sooner?

Hi Sam, Can we have the feature to save the post??? Many times we get great value posts, and we can save them for future reference, adding folders/categories would be great like having notebooks in Evernote @Sam Ovens @Sid Sahasrabuddhe

Up until a few weeks ago the videos in the course that I’m taking used to remember the position that I stopped at so that when I get back to it I could resume easily. Now I have to start the video from scratch and skip forward to try and find the spot I was up to. This is super annoying and a time waster. Is there a setting I can change or is this something that Skool Devs need to fix?

    @Sid Sahasrabuddhe I agree. I had problems with Safari as well, that all went away on Chrome.

I noticed you can still see module descriptions and links, even if you don't meet the requirements to access. Would it be possible to hide these? I plan on using the level access to give away templates which would require this information confidential until they meet the requirements.

    @Sid Sahasrabuddhe Thanks, Sid!!

I really like the simple, intuitive nature of the whole Skool platform, but would love to see some more customization that would enable the Skool group feel more branded for my brand. Things like being able to change the color scheme. For example, my brand colors are blue, and black. It would be nice to be able to have my pages have a light blue background, or blue highlights. Perhaps like the way you can change the background and themes like on Windows pc's, summer, fall, tech, etc., or at least the look and feel a bit like on Mac. As it is, the only real branding/personalization elements come in the ability to have a custom url, (which is great), in the color of the name with the logo (on the upper left), and in two places in the classroom area, with the logo, and the small box to the upper right, where we can import a picture. I'd love to hear from other people in the community ideas on how to make the platform more personally branded for my brand, and for my community. @Sid Sahasrabuddhe @Nick Guadagnoli Any thoughts/plans?

    Yup. To be expected, but annoying.

Feature request - It would be great if we could add links to the top navigation menu (community, classroom, calendar, leaderboards). I have an affiliate program and would love to be able to put it as a main link at the top so it can easily be viewed and accessed by members anytime.

Can we not have the pop up feature when you click on a post to read it and reply to message. Instead can we just read the full post and reply to comments on the time line without having that pop up.

    Love brisket!! I've been making do with Bristol Farms.

It would be really really awesome if you @Sam Ovens could add this feature some time in the future to classroom: The ability to only unlock modules after a certain period of time. So that one new set gets automatically unlocked each week / month / ... . So the member can't access all the course content right now, and instead has to wait a certain period of time before he can see the next module. This way you stop people from binge watching through the content without implementing the new knowledge. Would be SO appreciated! :))

    @Nick Guadagnoli Thanks so much for including me in @Sam Ovens thoughts, and the team's progress in unlocking the drip feature. Really love how responsive and on top if it you guys are.

Today, discovered a super cool feature in Skool. When I post about a specific video module, I just type the (#) and it brings up all the modules to select from and include in the post. I've used this twice today - once when I was sharing the new, uploaded video with my community and another time when I was answering a client's question and wanted to refer to a specific module for them to check out. Love this feature @Sam Ovens @Sid Sahasrabuddhe @Nick Guadagnoli Great job!!

    @Jen Boyd Hey Jen. It allows you to slow-drip content, as you like. So if you want to only have the first week's courses be available for the first week, you can unlock the first week, and set it up to drip one week at a time. In my case, it's really important to do one week at a time, and not jump ahead. I'd reached out to @Sid Sahasrabuddhe and the team to see if they were going to add this feature. They've been super on top of it, as a lot of people had requested it, and looks like it'll be available soon. One great thing about Skool as a platform is that they really want to make it the best in the space, so they're constantly improving it based on experience and feedback form content creators like us. Very cool.

Is it currently possible to restrict access to courses only to specific members or groups of members? Or would that require having a second skool?

    @Bruno Domingues It's true. I use a voice recording app to listen to my affirmations in the morning, and at night. It's dark at both times, and the bright screen gives me a bit of an adrenaline pump.

Where there be any plans to implement points for engaging on other peoples posts in a community? I notice you can only get points if YOU are the one creating a post, but there doesn't seem to have any incentive for others to engage on that post.

    @Nick Guadagnoli Right. It seems like replying to a comment is engagement. Having someone else like my comment is just a bonus.

I deleted a members post just now because they were just promoting an affiliate link for some random app they use. And in our rules, we say: No promotion of affiliate links or your own programs. When I deleted it, I was hoping for a pop up box that would let me explain to the user why it was deleted, so she wouldn't do it again. Does a user get notified when their post is deleted? If so, can we have a seamless way of explaining to them why it was deleted - like a pop up with a text box? Thanks!

    @Sid Sahasrabuddhe Good solution.

I'd love to receive an email any time someone comments in my Skool group using the "Support" category. I'd like to be able to get to those questions faster I guess, I'm asking for more granular email notifications? I started using Skool as a support group for my agency, because I LOVE the search feature in Skool. I'm hoping to train my members that whenever they have a question, to search before asking first. Doing this over time will make the Skool group more and more valuable for my members because they will able to find answers to their support questions without having to talk to us.

    @Sid Sahasrabuddhe Thanks, Sid. I agree with Hervin.

I posted this in Uplevel, but I thought I'd post it here, too. I expect that my course will get much better results when people attend the weekly Q&A/coaching calls, as it includes dealing with some levels of addiction, and live meetings are crucial for success. I was wondering if it would be possible, at some point, to award points for attendance at Q&A calls. And also, to be able to just award points in general. I know we can use gems for good content, and good content gets comments, which lead to points, but it seems having the option to award points, as an admin, would be great. Community is essential, and anything to encourage that would be great. Gamification is a great feature, and I'd love to see more admin ability to use it as a carrot (as in carrot and stick), as opposed to it being purely automated. I imagine this has been discussed, but I'd love to get thoughts from you guys. @Jesse Clark @Nick Hauser @Sid Sahasrabuddhe

    @Shanaka Jayakody Great point. Each community has it's own values and personality.

Many people don't remember to "Mark as Complete" on course modules - this creates a few problems. 1. Once they forget to 'mark as complete' for a few modules they lose track and just give up on the whole system of marking as complete as it's too confusing and time consuming to straighten out out. 2. When students look at the low course completion progress of other students, it gives less motivation to consume all of the training because it seems like other people aren't watching it either. I would recommend a progress bar for each module that shows how much of the video they have consumed. With also the manual ability to mark as complete.

I see there is a monthly fee to create a community. Is there a way to make that money back by charging for courses within your community?
