I am not a mom (obviously) but I am a Dad who has a daughter that has Severe Classic ASD and a son who is high functioning. I have 20 years of lived experience and 15 years of educational experience to share with anyone and everyone. I was a single gag for 5 years with full custody. I’ve been through the ups and downs and all the mental hula hoops. I’m not shy and I’m pretty open to any questions. Ask away.
@Paulette Bowe definitely a caregiver! But I also tried to help other caregivers to the best of my ability. Kind of following that whole idea of “it takes a village”
Autism is a neurological brain condition that can be minimum to severe. It can cause you to be overstimulated fast, nonverbal, lack social skills, flapping of hands, inability to sleep, unable to pick up social cues, not aware of one self, high IQ among other traits inability to empathize. Autism shows up differently in different people. People are asking what is autism in my box, so I thought I would create this post. Education is not as prevalent as I thought.
@Paulette Bowe my daughter and son were diagnosed in person at Glenwood Clinic. But I do diagnostics and they are in person as well. But everyone is making a move towards Telehealth and I can see how it would help the Special Needs Community
