FREE weekly career coaching call!
Hey Workshoppers, I'm VERY excited about this: As many of you already know, I usually only do coaching inside our high-level paid community "Inner Circle"... BUT today I'm announcing a little experiment: I'm going to run a free, 1 hour, weekly coaching session right here in this community, starting next Tuesday (August 22nd)! 👉 Watch this video if you don't feel like reading! You can join these calls and ask me anything you like about: - Building your facilitation career - Running specific workshops - Getting help with running workshops/troubleshooting - Getting advice on working with clients - Sales and marketing tips - Whatever you like! The first call starts NEXT TUESDAY (August 22nd, 4pm CET) and you can see the full schedule of upcoming calls right here on the Skool Calendar. I'll decide if I'll keep doing these based on how many people show up/ whether you all find them useful! ⚠️ 2 important bits of information: ONE: These calls will be strictly ONE hour long. We'll get through as much as we can in that time. I do a 2-3 hour coaching session every week in our "Inner Circle All-Access" community (these are recorded & transcribed), for those who want to go deeper. We can talk about this in more detail next week if anyone is interested in learning more! TWO: There won't be recordings of these free Q&A sessions. Why? For lots of reasons, but in short: just come hang out live! Hope to see some of you next week, let's go! Cheers, Jonathan

Me when I get home from work
Workshop for ideation
Hi there! I'm very new to facilitating workshops. I'm a UX designer working in a product company and would love to hear feedback. I have planned a workshop (after lots of research) to help a couple teams and major stakeholders to feel like their ideas are heard in-regards to improving our current app navigation. 1. I'm starting with the sail boat exercise. And from the top voted "When it comes to our navigation what is weighing us down" activity, I will reframe the main one into HMW. 2. For the top HMW I will ask everyone to come up with as many ideas as they can. Choose top 5 (bin the rest) and randomly stick on wall. 3. categorise them (to encourage everyone to read them) 4. vote 5. rearrange to with top voted on top. I'd like for it to take an hour. I don't know if it's worth taking it further like crazy 8s or wireframes. Would love to hear any feedback!

Some great advice in here, how did you go @Cody P , or is it this week? Another great learning tool is… yourself! If you can be sure you record it for your own sake, good way to review things that went well and can be improved. Also an important backup, in case you can’t write fast enough, and also to capture the context without any potential bias we bring when you or the PO recall the memory.
📍Where is everyone from?📍
Hello Facilitators👋 I'm really curious about where everyone is from. I'd love to make this a mega post where we can see how diverse the Facilitator Club community is. Who knows, you might find a lot more people in your area than you thought! Once I have lots of answers on this post, I want to make a nice graph!

The State of Facilitation report 2023!
The recently published "State of Facilitation report for 2023" is now available for access. Conducted by SessionLab, the report involved gathering feedback from more than 1000 facilitators, aiming to reflect the current state of facilitation and offer useful guidance, knowledge, and perspective for those who work as facilitators worldwide. You can find the report by clicking on this link: https://www.sessionlab.com/state-of-facilitation/ What do you find most interesting? What do you find most surprising?

Roles & Responsibilities workshop ideas?
I've facilitated several workshops focused on helping members within a team align on roles and responsibilities, build RACI charts, and expectations matrixes. But I'm faced with a new challenge: Helping members across multiple teams (3 different teams within the same organization), align on roles and responsibilities related to managing and engaging external ambassadors/supporters. The ideal outcome would be identifying one of the 3 teams as the "hub" or "Center of Excellence" responsible for governance and oversight perhaps even an enterprise calendar, while permitting the other 2 teams to engage ambassadors independently. Any ideas as to how to lead this group to alignment, knowing that two of the teams may need to give up a little of their current autonomy?

This sounds intriguing @Jay Perdue! A simple activity to run could be “delegation poker”. Super easy to run, this short clip gives you the examples. See what you think it could be a good way to get participants to “choose their own compromise” when it’s done in a transparent task-by-task table like that. There are many ways to do it your own way, in-person or remote. The last one we did after we established the rules (ensure everyone can see the numbered cards at all times) 1/ read out the Task for the vote 2/ give everyone a minute or less to write their number on a post-it (but keep hidden like poker, which reduces bias) 3/ they reveal all at once 4/ the review and discussion from here is the good stuff. People justify or explain their score. Expect some people will change score early on as they may have got the scoring scale backward 😅, but the key thing is each task will have a final “score” that all participants agree on. 5/ repeat for each Task https://youtu.be/xQ6uiuNjP4M Let us know how it went! Ps. Love the book share @Sara Caldwell
