🌿 Along the Way: Noticing our World
What captured your attention as you moved throughout the week? Did you return to an old favorite, or did you notice something new?

I like to think there is so much beauty in everything...all things. Sometimes I find too much beauty and get distracted. But for me, sometimes I find that right song (usually one from past that I loved) and in a sense, "rediscover" it all over again. That happens to me often. Specifically, and this is for anyone, I love to hear an artist sing it live or acapella. And not in the I performing a big show and I 20 minutes to get through 10 years of my music catalog...something acoustic where the artist can really sing it how he or she feels it. You'd be surprised how that can change how you hear one song or many songs across all musical genres.

Absolutely. While Youtube is super addictive, it is the perfect platform for that type (all types, really) or styles of music. Seems like every day something new (or old) pops up and draws me in...in a good way. It's that type of return I like. I've read a lot about OM (AUM) that primordial sound of the universe in creation, but I think when an artist finds his or her rhythm (a good play on words), there is power there. 🙂
A Place to Return to Often : New Member Welcome
In today's world, great emphasis is placed on what many call "progress." We must run faster, grow bigger, and eschew the old in place of the new. But in this effort, we often lose sight of what we already have. We miss what is here with us, right now, in this very place. In nature, many animals thrive because they know a specific place very well, and they return there again and again. (And based on what I see of my bird and squirrel friends in my backyard, they frequently do so at around the same time every day!) In birding, a "patch" is a place we return to often. While it is exciting to spot a new bird and explore a new place, there is a comfort and intimacy that comes whenever we return to our patch. We begin to notice rhythms, and as the season shifts, changes that might go undetected by those less familiar. We learn to notice and appreciate the small things. We might even learn to apply this to other areas of our lives. That's my hope for this community. The Patch is a place where we will practice paying attention to the things that matter in our everyday lives and being present for them. You are invited to join, and to return, whenever you can. You will always be welcome here. For today, I'd love to get to know you. I invite you to say "hello" in the comments, and if you're willing, to share something small you noticed or appreciated lately. It could be a bird at your feeder or a quiet moment that made you smile. Welcome to Your Patch. Amanda

I'd like to say hello, Amanda, and thank you for creating a space that feels welcoming from the very first post. Lately, I've been reminded how easy it is to overlook the quiet moments. A breeze at the end of a warm day and the sound of birds settling in for the evening made me pause for a moment. It's not many breezes this time of year where I am, however. It's amazing how something so ordinary can gently bring us back to the present. Looking forward to being part of the conversations here.

@Amanda Renee Absolutely. My experience has been staying in the present is easily mastered. But that's why you've got this growing to remind you to always remind you how to return, right? I think it's hot all over the country and probably no real escape. I recently transitioned from the Virginia Beach area (high humidity) to central North Carolina (maybe 1 degree less than high humidity). All in all - still high humidity. 😁
When Skool (or Amanda) is Too Loud! :D
When I first signed up for a couple of Skool groups, I was 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐝, especially in my inbox. As I build my community right now, I will be posting and adding things more frequently than I will once we are fully "in swing." Obviously this group is all about pursuing a slower and softer life with "less noise," so I definitely do not want to add stress or overwhelm. Hi again and it's funny you mentioned "less noise". I have done some writing focused on that. Hope we can share/trade ideas one day. Too much noise can be distracting, this is true. I am glad you are intentionally creating a space with that in mind. Good things!
