Love Over Legalism: Why I Live the Way I Live
I’m going to say something that religion struggles with: Jesus did not come to build religion. He came to restore union, freedom, and life. John He said, “The glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one.” Let that sink in. He did not just save you. He shared His glory with you. That means this is no longer just about “does this glorify God?” from a separated mindset. It becomes: Is my life reflecting the glory He already gave me? Because now it is: Galatians “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” So this is where everything changes. This Is Not Legalism. This Is Love. I do not live a certain way because of rules. I live this way because of love. Love for Him. Love for what He did. Love for the life He gave me. And yes, love for myself. Because if Christ is my life, then to dishonor my life is to dishonor Him. A New Way to Think About “Giving God Glory” Religion says: “Don’t do bad things so God gets glory.” But union says: You are carrying His glory. Now live like it. 1 Corinthians “Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit… therefore glorify God in your body.” So ask yourself honestly: Does this bring life? Does this reflect Christ in me? Does this agree with the Spirit or fight against it? This Is Why I Don’t Do Certain Things… Not out of fear. Not out of religion. Not to earn anything. But because of alignment with life. For example: I don’t smoke cigarettes. Yes, it harms the body. Yes, it’s not wise. But deeper than that: It does not reflect the life of Christ in me. It does not bring life. So it cannot bring Him glory. And since His glory is now in me, it also does not honor who I am. Expand That Across Everything!!! This is where it gets real. If I constantly think negative, fearful, or toxic thoughts… Does that reflect the mind of Christ? 2 Timothy “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” If I live in fear, that is not His nature being expressed.
