Classroom Modules
As you know, I’m super big on spending time inside the classroom modules. For each of you, you’re somewhere different along the path. So I want to audit your experience: Which module(s) were easy to understand, and which one(s) challenged your thinking, and why? Thoughts below 👇🏽

@Tim Howard I'm still working through the Worldview one. So far I'm following.
Worldview tetrahedron
In the realm of firefighting we have something called the fire tetrahedron; fuel, oxygen, and heat combine with a chemical reaction to produce fire. What about a Worldview Tetrahedron? Something like authority, morality and identity that are shown in your lived purpose. Individually you can have these different elements/beliefs but how you live demonstrates your true worldview. I've been trying to think of a way to introduce the idea of worldview analysis and apologetics to my youth group but give it my own personal flare (firefighting). So far this is what I have. From here you can get into the ideas of authority, identity and morality.

@Tim Howard Would values then be a better element than purpose? Like you can have beliefs in the other three areas but values are how you demonstrate your worldview?
Foundation of a Worldview
I am going to give this posting thing a shot. I have been reading Matthew Bates's books "Why the Gospel?" and "Salvation by Allegiance Alone". In both he argues we get the good news of Christianity wrong and miss the foundational element of the worldview. Simply put, Jesus as the enthroned king should be the starting point. As I am looking into Worldview Apologetics, it seems to me that this is a great starting place for any conversations; establishing who the ruler is in that worldview. You'd discuss this through conversation and questions and stories really, but ultimately you'd have to get this established first. Anyway, am I onto something? Probably simple for most here but figured I'd throw it out there anyway.

So I don't think that it is a difference in that sense. The difference lies in the emphasis. Jesus is King is the foundation, not just another part, if the gospel. The good news of the good news so to speak. Now, the books I'm reading make this argument to define faith as allegiance, not just a belief. Bates also calls it embodied participation. I am taking that concept to apply to worldview interactions. Specifically noting each worldview is going to have an authority and that authority is also foundational to get any significant meaning when engaging others who believe differently. So I agree with you, but might be changing how the idea that Jesus is King impacts our interactions.

I am Dan Payne. I am from mid-Michigan. I have been a Christian most of my life and really into apologetics the last ten years or so. However, I want to develop that more and see worldview clashing as a better approach to defending Christianity against all other worldviews. I volunteer with the youth at my church and serve as a firefighter and chaplain at a my local fire station. All of which provide ample opportunity to clash with worldviews. I would just like to be able to do it better. I am really looking for a place where I can be put to the test. Have my skills sharpened but also be mentored and strengthened.
