Overload
Too much information is making us numb. I called this "sensory overload". I always liked scifi and cyberpunk. The new bladerunner totally blew me away for example. Amazing artwork to me that movie. From design to color to music. I also love the aestethics of circuits and i integrate them very subtle into my work sometimes. Less subtle here. Pretty expressive drawing actually. I am working on my gouache and watercolor now. Next will be oil again. Mediums are just the tools to get down the artwork. I will give up on pastel for now tho. Too much dust for my liking. And do you know what that feel that gives you nasty shivers with crayon dust ? Yeah no thanks :D will post more again ! Much more. 🩵 Strathmore 300 and I also used white here.

Closing the Society
Hi friends, this week I’ll be archiving The Society. I'm simplifying my life and fully focusing on my Coaching Program community. Right now they are thriving and deserve my full attention. My vision for this group was always bigger than image sharing. I wanted to build a collaborative community with me, other Pros, and members who wanted to break out of the social media paradigm of vanity, likes and follows. I wanted to create a community built on conversations and relationships, online and offline. To keep that vision alive would require many hours of teaching, support, and collaboration, and right now, I simply don’t have the time (or resources) to sustain it. I plan to have an oil painting focused community soon. That is the next stage in my evolution so I will dedicate my hours and labor to this new chapter in my life. If you are interested in that, please follow me on my new website (I will start writing beautiful articles there again) and join my free email list. That is where I will do my teaching and guiding for now. Thank you for being part of this. Skool is still in it's infancy, but I know it will become as mainstream as Facebook. As censorship of nude figurative art and beautiful realism as a whole continues to rise, the mass of artists like me will eventually migrate here. So thank you for being a pioneer with me. To those who resonate with me and align with my mission to build a sanctuary for beauty online I hope to meet you again. Much love and peace be with you until we meet again.❤️🤝

Is Fine Art University worth it?
I haven’t posted in a while — I’ve been busy with school. Can you imagine? We have to produce six paintings/collages in about three hours! Anyway, I wanted to ask: are any of you currently in fine art school, or were you in the past? Because my university feels really weird… or maybe all fine art schools are like this? In my first year, almost everything we did was abstract. We only had one life drawing session per week, and we had only two painting sessions the entire year. I thought in the second year we’d finally learn more technical skills, but we still haven’t used oil paint at all. And we don’t even have life drawing sessions anymore. As much as I enjoy experimenting with paint and collage, I really wish they would teach us more about drawing and painting techniques. One of my teachers said, “Anyone can draw a pretty picture.” I don’t agree with that at all — you need to build skills and knowledge to improve. Honestly, if it wasn’t for people like Chris who share their knowledge online, I would never have learned how to draw or paint just by going to university. And that’s mind-blowing to me. What do you think? Is this normal?

@Roxana Epure i cannot tell you how many times I have heard from people that they have been laughed at for wanting to do realism. It is all about that postmodern/modrern trash and "express yourself". Just do it without any skill like a child would. No depth. No meaning. Sad. So yeah I agree with everything being said :D
Finding Beauty in Hard Times!
I noticed something beautiful while reading introductions from members here; many of us started caring about art, or came back to it seriously, during the pandemic. That time, though full of fear and uncertainty, seems to have reminded so many people of what truly matters. Hardships can quietly turn our minds toward beauty and joy, almost like an inner call to create something healing when the world feels heavy. I’m one of those people too. During that period, I found myself drawing again, not for any goal, but simply to feel alive and connected. It’s amazing how art becomes both our shelter and our voice. Did anyone else have a similar experience? ✨ Since Halloween is near, I wanted to share a master study I did a few years ago, inspired by Arthur Rackham. This piece, The Story-Teller, was originally drawn for Rip Van Winkle by Washington Irving (1819). I didn’t read the story, but I loved the composition and the inking style, so I gave it a try using a brush pen with a few digital enhancements.

Such a moody image. Really well done study too. Hardships can or should make us come back to what is essential I believe. I recognized during that time from many comments that people got back to drawing. Well they also suddenly had time when work was closed. It is always ying and yang. Everything bad got it's light for contrast.
