Luminaries (January 2026)
Our first community project is finally here! If you check out the classroom there are two brand new tutorials for making either a hand-built or wheel-thrown version. My hope is that you would run wild with this project and make it completely your own. This thread is for questions, comments, and brainstorming. Feel free to ask questions, answer questions, and post progress pictures. Have fun, be encouraging, and make something you love!

@Trey Foster thanks Trey. I used two Kemper sgraffito tools and my new Bushkraft set of carving tools.

@Trey Foster Nice, I look forward to it.
How do you sign your pots?
For the first time in 9 years I'm changing the stamp that I use for my "maker's mark" It feels a bit strange but I'm excited to have an official Clay with Trey stamp. The change got my wondering how you guys sign your pots? Is it your name or a symbol? Do you carve it or stamp it?

I currently use black underglaze with my initials, or use a pencil to carve my initials. I will be transitioning to a logo design at some point

@Trish Maguire will make a beautiful and wonderful gift
Did you get any pottery things this Holiday?
I didn’t get anything directly pottery related for Christmas, but I did get some LED lights for my studio! I’m working on making my home studio a lot more video friendly so I look slightly less like a troll in his hidey hole. Did y’all get any pottery stuff?

I bought myself some specific Raku glazes and mason stains for making in tinting terra sigillatta. I also bought myself some forms to create some new collections.
How often are you muddy?
Just curious, how often are you in your studio or workspace?

I have classes on Saturday morning and Sunday night at the community studio. I am able to attend open lab sessions on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. So 4x a week/12 hrs a week. I have asthma so try to keep the silica out of my home but have long term plans of a garage add-on with a full HVAC installed as mentioned above. That's the 10yr.plan

Hey friends! I'm Danny, and I started pottery lessons in Jan 2023. I love wheel, sculpture, and hand-building. Excited to learn with you and grow!
