If you apply for the first tier of monetization, do you need to then apply for the full monetization tier when eligible? Or is it all the same?

My most recent video was posted 3 days ago and is nearly at 5k views. This is viral for me. I have another video ready to go (it complements the video from 3 days ago). Generally speaking, what is the best practice when uploading the next video after the viral one? Do I give the video from a few days ago more time before posting the next one? My instinct tells me to continue the momentum and post the new one, but I always value the opinions here to make a more informed decision. Thanks!
