Episode 1: Breath | Tantra Series with Jim Benson
In the first session of this 3-part Tantra Series, Jim Benson introduces one of the most powerful tools for presence, connection, and vitality: breath. Most men move through intimacy and life with tension in their bodies and shallow breathing patterns. In this session, Jim explores how conscious breath can help men relax the nervous system, expand awareness, and access deeper levels of energy and connection. You’ll learn practical breathing practices that support: • Nervous system regulation • Greater presence in the body • Expanded pleasure and stamina • Deeper connection Jim Benson has spent over two decades helping men develop confidence, presence, and authentic connection through body-based awareness and tantric practice. Stay tuned for Episodes 2 and 3 of the series.

Dharma Group🙏
In my Dharma group this past weekend we broke up into diads and asked each other 2 questions Frank Osteseski suggested for intense examination. One person asked the other person for 7 minutes to dive deep: 1st question-Tell me a way you try to avoid suffering-this for 7 minutes casueing deep refelction 2nd Question-Tell me a way you experience service as belonging! One questioner asked each question for 7 minutes then the other persson became the questioner and did the same. It was amazing and I found the 2nd question resonating so deeply for me it was great. If anyone wants to experience I am here!

I love the first question. I could go on and on for way longer than 7 minutes about that. 1. I avoid taking action on something until the last minute ( a folly way of trying to avoid a fear of failure/rejection/alienation/humiliation) 2. I have lied to give the impression I am in a better position or state than is reality - fortunately I have been working on this and isn’t a default mode anymore. 3. When I feel hopeless or deep sadness my automatic reaction is anger - it works to keep me from “suffering” and gives the false impression of feeling empowered/righteous. 4. I distract - whether it be work, relationship, cooking, video games, reading, outdoor work, porn, etc. I catch myself distracting myself to avoid suffering/ overwhelm. The medicine for me has been to stay open and honest - something this community and others before have helped me tremendously with, and to also slow down. Meditation, yoga, mindfulness.

Experiencing Joy & Happiness
Hey guys…this came up in the wellness group Randy and I host today. Thought it was worth sharing…hope you guys are enjoying a great weekend. What's the difference between joy and happiness? While the terms are often used interchangeably, many psychological and spiritual perspectives distinguish them by their source, duration, and resilience. Key Differences at a Glance (H) for happiness (J) for joy Source External: Triggered by events, people, or achievements. (H) Internal: Rooted in purpose, meaning, or connection. (J) Duration Temporary: Can be fleeting and depends on favorable conditions.(H) Sustained: An enduring state that can last through difficult seasons. (J) Nature Reactive: An emotional response to positive "happenings". (H) Proactive: Often described as a choice or an underlying state of being. (J) Resilience Fragile: Often fades when circumstances turn negative. (H) Robust: Can coexist with pain, grief, or suffering.(J) Core Distinctions - Biological Basis: Happiness is often linked to the brain's reward system and the release of dopamine after reaching a goal or receiving a reward. Joy is associated with deeper neural networks tied to emotional regulation and long-term well-being. - The "Happenings" vs. The "Spirit": A common mnemonic is that happiness is based on "happenings"—good news, a great meal, or a gift. Joy is frequently viewed as a "fruit of the Spirit" or a spiritual discipline that remains steady regardless of outward chaos. - Emotional Coexistence: You generally cannot feel "happy" and "sad" at the exact same time. However, you can experience joy and sorrow simultaneously, such as feeling a deep sense of peace or purpose while grieving a loss. - Choice vs. Reaction: While you can't always choose to be happy (it often "happens" to you), many experts suggest you can choose joy by focusing on gratitude, values, and a perspective that transcends current problems.

I love the distinction of external vs internal states / experiences. This articulated something I have been contemplating for a while very well. Thank you for sharing this @Steve Dinga !
