Why Your Dreams Are Taking So Long To Show Up
A few years ago, I kept asking myself why the plans I'd prayed over and written down weren't moving. The vision was clear. The work was happening. So why the delay? Here's what I eventually understood: my mind was still living in reruns. Every setback, every "not yet," every version of me that didn't make the cut. I was replaying those scenes on loop, more often than I was rehearsing where I was actually going. That's not a discipline problem. It's how the mind works. Whatever gets replayed the most becomes the dominant program running in the background — and a mind stuck reviewing old failure footage can't simultaneously build a future that looks different. You can't out-hustle a subconscious that's still watching last season. # Why Your Dreams Are Taking So Long to Show Up A few years ago, I kept asking myself why the plans I'd prayed over and written down weren't moving. Every setback, every "not yet," every version of me that didn't make the cut ; I was replaying those scenes on loop, more often than I was rehearsing where I was actually going. Whatever gets replayed the most becomes the dominant program running in the background ; and a mind stuck reviewing old failure footage can't simultaneously build a future that looks different. You can't out-hustle a subconscious that's still watching last season. I remember one specific scene I used to replay ; a financial decision I got badly wrong, years back. Every time money got tight, my mind would cue it up automatically, uninvited, like a rerun I never asked for. One day I decided to stop watching it as-is. I sat with the memory and rewrote it ; not the facts, but the meaning. I pictured myself making the wiser call, staying calm, walking away steadier. I ran that revised version on repeat instead. Something shifted. Not overnight, but noticeably ; the tight-chested dread that used to show up around money started to fade.

This really resonates, Cynthia. I especially like the idea of changing the meaning we attach to old experiences instead of constantly replaying them. Sometimes the biggest shift happens when we stop letting the past define how we approach what’s ahead. What helped you make that shift from simply recognizing the “reruns” to consistently creating new mental patterns?
