Survival Spanish Week 2: Ordering Food
Picture this… You’re sitting down at a small café in Mexico. The server hands you the menu, and it’s all in Spanish. You’re hungry and want to order a full meal. This week, you’ll practice ordering food in Spanish with confidence. Instructions: Pretend you’re at a restaurant and say what you’d like to eat and drink. You can describe the food or even ask for recommendations. Make sure to practice your pronunciation. Post your response in Spanish using #SurvivalSpanish Prompt: Greet your server and order a drink, a main dish, and a dessert. Include polite phrases like “por favor” and “gracias.”

Survival Spanish Week 1: Asking for Help
If you have been for a while you know that we have weekly hwk phrases, I’m stepping it up a notch in April with this challenge below 👇 Imagine you’re lost in a Spanish-speaking city and your phone just died. You need to ask someone for directions to your hotel. What would you say? This week’s mission is to practice asking for help in Spanish using real, simple phrases. Instructions: Record a short audio, or write your response in Spanish. Use the hashtag #SurvivalSpanish when you post in the group below 👇 You can even roleplay as if you’re walking up to someone on the street. Prompt: You walk up to a local and say: “Hi, excuse me. I’m a little lost. Can you help me?” Translate and continue the conversation in Spanish.

Yo
#fluencyThursday #jueves #fluencia
Hola mis amigos. Stay in the moment with Spanish. Do not give up. (I'm talking to myself as well). When you are speaking to a speaker that understands Spanish and English, it is easy to default to English especially when you haven't learned how to say the words (YET!) in Spanish. You can mix Spanish and English to stay in that conversational moment. Yo no sé pero I lost mis llaves. I have no clue of where they could be. No tengo idea. Tengo fe que las encontraré. I had a moment yesterday where I could not recall the words I wanted to say to my Spanish speaking client (who also understood English). It ended up being okay porque I came right back into the moment with Spanish. And do not worry. Native Spanish speakers who speak English do it too. That's why we have Spanglish! :)
