It Took 16 Videos To Figure It Out
Here is my 16th video on Creator Compass, lower AVD and more views. Why? Well, obviously the topic is a huge factor in terms of getting views, but this isn't much different from my previous videos topic wise. It's because the video is longer. This one is 35 seconds whereas my last video that passed 10k views was only 22 seconds. Even though the older video had a higher percentage viewed, it still seems that longer videos perform better for my channel. The point of this is to help you understand the importance of trying different video lengths and iterating from there. Most of the time, you want to get your videos as long as possible without boring your audience and hurting the retention. It's much easier to start a bit lower and work your way up from there. But some niches also just have a natural video length that people are used to. Look at other channels in your niche, see how long their videos are, and start from there. These platforms want to push out longer content because the longer the video, the more ad revenue they (and you) will get. But it's also important to know which platform you're on, because TikTok for example will usually have a much lower threshold since people are used to watching only super short videos on there. That'd be like trying to get someone to watch a 5 minute video on Vine, back when they could only be 6-7 seconds long. YouTube is easier because people come for both long and short form videos, so it's easier to get them to stick around for a bit longer. Keep this in mind and let me know if it's helpful!
