4++ giveth and 4++ taketh
As most of ya know my goofy ass is a daemon player, T-Sons player and on a rare occasion I might even take my dusty whitescars off the shelf. Well, today I helped a new player play his first real game and just like when I first started playing, it took like a million years. He played Votann. I played a swarm daemons list and jailed him. He did great. My Bloodthirster was not kind and the rules got overwhelming near the middle of the third round when we called it quits, after about 9 hours of gaming. My Bloodthirster refused to fail any saves and survived what was otherwise a pretty nasty round. Those land fortresses are tough. Votann have high toughness characteristics too, which I'm not too used to. Their strength 7, two wound guns made short work of all my 5++ invuln units but my 4++ invulns just refused to die. I did realize when helping new players learn, even though I dislike 1000 point games, I'll be playing 1k with them. Maybe that'll get the time down to 3 to 5 hours playing while they learn their rules. Again, he did great. He moved well, shot the right units, screened my deep strikes. Etc.
