Lately I’ve been back in my custom lash strip bag 👀 I know that we’ve been talking a lot about retention, aftercare, and client responsibility, but customization plays a role in client satisfaction too. I’ve been creating more handmade strips based on: • Eye shape • Density preference • Wispy vs full styling • Even color or glitter requests It’s been interesting seeing how strip customization compares to extension styling. Let’s break down this 3-week retention case study. This client came in right on schedule for her 3 week fill and qualified for a fill based on retention. From a 50/50 perspective, here’s what contributed to the outcome: Service factors: • Proper prep • Isolation & placement • Adhesion control • Sealant application post-set Client factors: • Cleansing routine • Oil exposure • Sleep habits • Friction & maintenance Retention is never one-sided. Strong fills are the result of both technical execution and client aftercare consistency.

We’ve spent time talking about adhesive and environment, but retention issues aren’t always technical. Client habits, aftercare, and lifestyle play a role too — and that’s where a lot of frustration happens. I’ll be shifting into retention behaviors + expectations next. It’s brick out here in Philly 🥶 This lash adhesive’s minimum humidity is 15%, and my hygrometer was reading 16–20%, which is the very low end of its workable range. At the bottom of the range, adhesive will still work — but it typically cures slower and relies more heavily on proper temperature support. Because my studio temperature was originally around 48°F, I used a space heater to bring the room into range. As I continued lashing my client, I noticed the adhesive did cure and bond quicker once the temperature was adjusted. Humidity still played a major role in overall performance, but this is a real example of how temperature and humidity work together, not separately.
