I was looking at a picture of me as a baby and thinking about how life keeps evolving. That little girl had no idea what she would walk through. What she would build. What she would overcome. But she had courage in her. I can still hear my granny’s words: “Sandy, don’t let anyone read and spell for you.” That was deeper than education. That was about discernment. About thinking for yourself. About not letting the world interpret reality for you. Right now, courage is required. To lead. To stay grounded. To protect your focus. To move with clarity in noisy times. Black history is not a highlight reel. It is resilience. It is ownership. It is choosing to write your own narrative. Reflection for today: Where in your life are you letting someone else “read and spell” for you? What would it look like to reclaim your voice and your vision? We are not spectators in this season. We are authors. Move like it.
