What’s the Hardest Part of Game Dev Job Hunting Right Now?
Job hunting can feel overwhelming, not because you’re doing it wrong, but because the industry is chaotic. Let’s talk about it. What’s the ONE thing you’re finding hardest right now? Is it: • ghosting? • burnout? • your confidence? • portfolio pressure? • not knowing what to fix first? • motivation? • all of it? Whatever it is, say it. No judgement here. Half the battle is realising you’re not the only one feeling it.

All of the above but I feel like a unique thing is feeling responsibly financially especially if you're living with someone else such as a friend or partner. Not even considering that you are caged to your house, but when you are struggling to get any job at all and are depending on others for stability and living, such as rent, food etc... it really takes a blow to your mental health.

Heyo ! Im Conor, nice to meet you all ! I have alway's struggled so much with networking and I hope to meet some lovely people. I am a programmer, I primarily use Unreal Engine but am comfortable enough with Unity too. I was lucky enough to work for a UK games funded indie company for a year where I learned most of my programming skills. I do think networking is one of the hardest parts due to being a true introvert 😅 but I also struggling to know where my skills are at. I am very much still a Junior but I am unsure where to go next, what to learn etc... without mentorship its quite difficult. But lovely to meet you all ! Thank you for having me!
