From Overlooked to Olympian: Why This Exists 🚀
I am genuinely so excited to be building this community. I am 5ft 10 in a sport where physical gifts matter. I would stand behind the blocks on a world stage looking across at athletes who were 6ft 4, 6ft 5, 6ft 6, and I knew what people were thinking. Too small. Not gifted enough.Won't make it at the highest level. And for a long time, it looked like they might be right. I missed the Rio 2016 Olympics by 0.05 seconds. I went years without a personal best. I missed the Tokyo 2021 Olympics by 0.2 seconds. I questioned whether I was good enough, whether I still wanted it, and whether all the years of sacrifice were actually going to lead anywhere. At one point I had to step away from the sport because I was mentally burnt out. I had to ask myself difficult questions. Was I doing this because I loved it? Was I doing this because it was who I was? Or was there still something inside me that refused to let the story end there? That period changed me. I realised that success does not define you. But quitting on yourself does something to you too. So I came back. Not with more talent. Not with more height. Not with some magic formula. I came back with better standards, better structure, more ownership, and a deeper understanding of what it actually takes to stay in the game long enough to become undeniable. In 2024, I became an Olympian. That is why I am building this. Because I know what it is like to be the athlete who trains harder than everyone and still gets overlooked. To stand next to someone more gifted and wonder if you were simply built with less. To do everything right and still watch the door stay shut. But here is what I learned. Talent opens the door. It does not decide who walks through it. And most athletes in that position do not need another motivational quote. They need standards. They need structure. They need accountability. They need proof that they are becoming the athlete they know they could be. This community is for the competitive athlete who was never the obvious choice but refuses to accept that talent was ever the whole story. The one who is done wasting potential and ready to outwork the gap.
