Our community is growing and we have some talented and dedicated community owners here. Today is your day to tell us a little bit more. ๐Ÿฆ‰Who are you and who do your serve? ๐Ÿ”‚ In 1 or 2 sentences, describe your community. ๐Ÿ”— Drop a link to your about page. Comment on 1 or 2 communities that interest you. Letโ€™s support each other and build new relationships. Thank you @Mary Nunaley! I am a curious mind who is gathering other curious minds to build and grow our communities together. Specifically focusing on the reasons behind our work, behind the communities we are building because we all know that you are not doing it just for the money. There is so much more to it but to find out about that, without having to prove anything to anyone, or convince anyone of that value, we need to find ways to connect with each other as community owners, as well as everyone we can help and support best. In the CLUES community we are connecting, collaborating, and growing our communities together. It's where curiosity drives collaborative growth! The community is where everyone gathers, and the ecosystem that supports our mission is called the CLUES Network (premium), that enables you to stand out because of who you are!

Introductions
Weโ€™ve had so many new folks join in the last month, I think itโ€™s time for a fun game of introductions. Now, when Iโ€™m conducting in person training, I usually do this by passing around of toilet paper and asking everyone to tear off as many sheets as theyโ€™d like. No further instructions are given. After everyone has taken their share, I then let them know itโ€™s time to share one fact for each square (or sheet) they took. That usually gets folks talking. Since we donโ€™t have any toilet paper, letโ€™s roll the virtual dice instead. For each dot that you get, share something about yourself. Iโ€™ll start. PS: This is on the honor system. https://www.calculator.net/dice-roller.html

Why Boredom is Good for You!
Thereโ€™s a moment you probably know well. Your kid walks into the room and says, โ€œIโ€™m boooored.โ€ And almost instantly, you feel pressure to solve it. This weekโ€™s Playful Shift will be all about boredom, the science, some strategies, and more. Check the calendar for details. When I was growing up, I quickly learned saying, โ€œIโ€™m boredโ€ usually meant โ€œhere come some chores!โ€ So, growing up in an era where self-entertainment was key, I discovered how to keep boredom at bay. Today, the pendulum has shifted, maybe those of us who lived through the โ€œbored = chores eraโ€ thought we were being helpful. Can you relate? We answer the cry by suggesting activities, or we offer screens. Maybe we throw out craft ideas. We mentally scroll through every possible option trying to โ€œfixโ€ the boredom before it turns into whining, fighting, or chaos. Raise your hand if you can relate. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ But hereโ€™s the thing Iโ€™ve been re-learning. Boredom is often the space right before creativity wakes up. Researchers studying the brainโ€™s โ€œdefault mode networkโ€ have found that when the brain is not locked onto a task or flooded with stimulation, it starts connecting ideas, replaying experiences, imagining possibilities, and building internal narratives. In simpler terms, the brain starts wandering on purpose. That wandering matters. Let me say that again, the wandering matters! Itโ€™s where pretend games are born. Itโ€™s where inventions begin. Itโ€™s where kids suddenly decide to build a fort, write a comic, make up a dance, or turn a cardboard box into a dragon cave. The hard part is that boredom usually does not look magical at first. It looks uncomfortable. A lot of modern parenting culture has quietly convinced us that we should constantly enrich, entertain, optimize, and supervise childhood. But childhood was never designed to run on nonstop stimulation. Kids need some empty space. Not endless empty space. Not neglect. Not โ€œfigure it out completely alone while I disappear for six hours.โ€ But enough room for their own ideas to start bubbling up instead of always receiving ideas from us.

@Max Orlewicz 100%, if you see a waterfall every single day, and sometimes even multiple, it's not interesting anymore at some point. It's hard to believe but it's true and I think it applies to everything in life. Too much of it and it becomes normal, the novelty is gone whilst taking breaks in between (of either doing something totally different or NOTHING AT ALL) makes for a whole different experience). Easier said than done but it's important! Definitely related to overstimulation, yes!

@Max Orlewicz True true! At home I need boredom to deliberately slow down, because life sometimes becomes "too demanding and this way we choose to be more in control of that. At my new job after a few weeks I have heard all too often how stressed people are. I told them, as soon as I get stressed, I am out... it's not that black and white of course because there is stress and stress but I care a lot about preventing it to become worse. Burnett should never be normalized
Happy Motherโ€™s Day
For many places around the world, today we celebrate Motherโ€™s Day. I believe some countries celebrated earlier this year. Thatโ€™s not the point. Today we celebrate the momโ€™s. What is (or was) a Motherโ€™s Day tradition you recall? In my family, itโ€™s breakfast at McDonaldโ€™s. The tradition started after my daughter got her driverโ€™s license. She and my son wanted to treat me to breakfast. Being kids, they didnโ€™t realize that Motherโ€™s Day is one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants. After striking out a few times, we landed at the drive-thru of McDonaldโ€™s. I can say, that was probably one of my best ever Motherโ€™s Days. Now, itโ€™s your turn!

For us it was breakfast on bed until me all moved out! It was great, and we did the same for my dad on Father's day, growing up thinking this is what everyone does haha
