Natural Disasters: Tornadoes πŸŒͺ️
πŸŒͺ️ What Damage Can Tornadoes Cause? 1. Structural Damage to Buildings Homes can be severely damaged or completely destroyed. Roofs can be ripped off; walls can collapse. Mobile homes, sheds, and garages are especially vulnerable. 2. Flying Debris Tornado winds turn everyday objects into dangerous projectiles. Debris can break windows, puncture walls, and injure people. 3. Vehicles Thrown or Flipped Cars, trucks, and even buses can be tossed like toys. This can cause both property damage and serious injuries. 4. Uprooted or Snapped Trees Large trees can be pulled from the ground or broken in half. Falling trees damage houses, power lines, and roads. 5. Power Outages Tornadoes commonly knock down power poles and transformers. Communities may lose electricity for hours or days. 6. Infrastructure Damage Roads blocked or destroyed. Water lines, gas lines, and communication networks can be damaged. 7. Agricultural Loss Farmland can be flattened. Livestock can be injured or lost. Crops can be destroyed in minutes. 8. Environmental Damage Tornadoes can scatter chemicals, pollutants, and debris across large areas. They can cause fires if they hit gas lines or electrical systems. 9. Injuries and Fatalities Sadly, tornadoes can cause loss of life due to collapsing buildings or flying debris.

I have seen massive damage to hardly any damage ....I've always found Tornadoes fascinating even walked through a small twister taking my breath away my mom was horrified while I was excited lol . Biggest I saw was just half a mile away but seemed and sounded closer still. The sound is the thing that I still hear. Very little damage on this occasion but I have seen whole areas disappear. I'd still love the chance to spend the chance to storm chase in the Tornado Ally.

Amber Cold Alert 28/12/25 - 05/01/26
Cold health alert issued for the North East The amber cold health alert is in effect from 8PM on 28/12/2025 until 12PM on 05/01/2026 across the North East. The amber alert has a matrix score of 12 (Medium likelyhood, Medium Impact) This means: Forecast weather is likely to cause significant impacts across health and social care services, including: - a rise in deaths, particularly among those aged 65 and over or with health conditions. We may also see impacts on younger age groups - a likely increase in demand for health services - temperatures inside places like hospitals, care homes, and clinics dropping below the levels recommended for assessing health risks - challenges keeping indoor temperatures at the recommended 18Β°C leading to more risk to vulnerable people - staffing issues due to external factors (such as travel delays) - other sectors starting to observe impacts (such as transport and energy)

Storms in US
Well if Iwere still living in Illinois I'd likely be storm chasing today- ridiculous considering there are Tornado warnings in place in the last week if Dec....as a kid we only watched out for snow storms and hoped for a large dump of snow to play in. That for me shows the change in weather more than statistics. They've had some strange weather this last couple weeks from California flash Floods (who were in fire Tornadoes this time last year) to weather bombs in the mid West .....Eastern board states will be watching the weather dropping fun off the lakes.... Then this weather could gain more strength in the Atlantic abd the northerly winds .....cold weather here we come

Beast from The East
Normally we watch the weather coming across the Atlantic. But last weekend I noticed a change in the east wind flow turned towards the west from Syberia...now it didn't do a lot for a few days as our lows were still dragging over on the jet stream. Now that's moved and given room fir the Syberian winds to come our way. Today I've seen the first forecast fir the Beast from the east probably for the New Year. So I'll be watching closely what jet stream etc does. I have an allotment that needs a few bits covering if we're going to get colder πŸŽ…πŸŽ„πŸŽ…β˜ƒοΈπŸŒ‘β„ Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone

Just been looking at jet stream .....no worries from east just got to watch what it brings down from the North in a couple days....bit cold ....jet stream has split too so its got a couple of gaps in it but mostly everything should travel from the west ....
