My Future as a Member of this Community
G’Day Gents it’s me again, I just wanted to let you all know that there’s a good chance that I won’t be able to continue my involvement within this community beyond 2026. Whilst I fully understand the reasoning behind Antonio’s decision to monetise this forum, I’ll only continue my involvement within this group if it’s financially viable and as of right now that’s unlikely as I’m on a very small income stream. It breaks my heart to think I may have to choose between leaving a wonderful online community of men and financial stability as it’s uncertain whether my income will increase enough for me to fully involve myself within this community daily, in fact not since Thursday December 19th last year have I missed a day of engagement (49.5 Weeks give or take). However, the universe works in mysterious ways, if my song as one of the earliest and most loyal members of this group (a Colonel no less) comes to an end in 2026 so be it, but if fate dictates that my song as a proud RMRS Skool member is far from finished, I’ll proudly continue my involvement for the foreseeable future. - Banjo

Totally understand and I am in the same boat as well. I know it may only seem like a few dollars but sometimes a few dollars is the difference between filling a prescription for my wife now or waiting a week until payday. I am not begrudging Antonio's desire to drive income and all the options are really great perks, but its not in my cards.

@Banjo Piggott Wright Thank you, I am sitting on the fence right now and will see what the "free" membership offers. I am not concerned about not having access to courses, guides, etc. We will see.
Paying for this site
I guess I may be the only one on here who Is not going to pay to be in this group. So, if this is my last month on this site I would like to thank everyone for your support and friendships over the past few years. I have learned a lot and met a lot of great gentleman on here. Hope I can stay, but not worth paying monthly or yearly for in this economy. I have to use my extra cash to live nowadays so, again thank you for everything, and I’ll continue until they kick me off. I will Continue to use the style system and keep referring back to it when stumped. Keep it up gents it’s definitely been a pleasure.

I have really enjoyed the friendship and the support that this site has offered but I too won't be paying to continue. I plan to move from Semi-retired to retired and that means adjusting to a fixed income, so I will be washing my coffee mug and hanging it on the hook, I will gather up my things and bid all a fond farewell.
My Return to Literature
G'Day Gents, instead of my weekly OOTD I decided to share something profoundly personal with you all, So last year during the worst time of my life, I went from being an agnostic man to a fully religious man, and in accordance with my religious doctrine I'm required to take the time to read at least 1 book or passage of text three times a year, with the Christmas season (First Day of Advent or December 1st to December 25th) being one of those times. I should disclose that whilst I've always been a massive reader of Non-Fiction, not since I was 12 had I taken a genuine interest in reading any sort of Fiction book (inc. Poetry) due to having the love of reading Fiction sapped from me upon the completion of a genuinely terrible work of Fiction. However, as an adult I'm on a mission to rediscover my love for reading Fiction books. So far I've just finished reading Ernest Hemingway's In Our Time (7.5/10) and I'm currently reading Raymond Chandler's Killer in the Rain (8/10 thus far), and earlier this year (despite in being a non-fiction book) I read James Sherwood's book on Savile Row (10/10). I plan on reading a few more books before the end of Christmas season such as Ernest Hemingway's For Whom the Bells Toll, Edgar Allan Poe's the Raven and possibly the King James version of the Holy Bible. With all that said I want to know who are some of your favourite authors and/or books? For me Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, Banjo Paterson, William Shakespeare and the Brother's Grimm were and still are some of my favourite authors/writers growing up, as are J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter), C.S. Lewis (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe), Charles Dickens (A Christmas Carol) and J.R.R. Tolkien (The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit) just to name a few. Since reading In Our Time and Killer in the Rain, I've grown extremely fond of both Ernest Hemingway and Raymond Chandler respectively, especially regarding their writing/narrative styles and I look forward to reading more of their books in the future. I'm also looking forward to reading books from the likes of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Dick Francis and George Orwell, as well as read numerous philosophy and theology books to help me gain a better understanding of the world from many different perspectives.

@Riley Webber I believe that was the second Heinlein novel I read. Rocketship Galileo being the first.

@Banjo Piggott Wright I enjoy reading. TV is such a wasteland anymore.
Any guesses?
Can you guess my nationality JUST BY LOOKING at me?

The cut of the clothing to me seems Eastern European or Southern Europe. Naturally I read the thread above and would maybe toss in Turkish, Kurd, or Tajik? I could be way off as well and for all I know you could be from New Jersey. :)
Words have energy and power
Gents one of my pet pieves if u will is people talking down to other people. It needs to stop. The meeting I was in with 2 managers, I got spoken down to and to say I was pretty put off is an understatement. Their words put off negative energy which made the meeting get a bit heated. So gents only speak life and positive energy. Jesus cursed the fig tree cause it wasn’t producing dogs in a fruitful season. Don’t curse others. If it’s not gonna be good words then picture that negative stuff in your hand and watch yourself throw it into the toilet and flush it. Don’t harbor bad energy or thoughts. Build others up

I was in a meeting like that a few years ago and when it was my turn to speak I asked the sergeant that felt the need to talk down to us what his personal insecurities were. Before he was able to speak I rose and left the room and told him that when he was willing to be civil I would be in my office should he need my assistance for his project (that was floundering due to his lack of planning and preparation). Granted not everyone is is a position to do this, I just wasn't having some punk NCO that was twenty years younger than me speak to me as if I was a junior Soldier. Respect is a two way street. If you want respect, give respect.
