Tonight as I scrolled longer than I should have, I came across some controversy over the words of Christ from His sermon on the mount. A small thought has entered my mind and I need to write it down. For just about forever I have seen WWJD on bracelets, shirts, signs etc. and what would Jesus do is a very important question. However what got me thinking tonight is the thought WWJHMD. Which, admittedly, rolls off the tongue the much worse. “What would Jesus have me do”. If there was some good I could do right now, a kind word to leave on someone’s post. A text to send. A call to make. Forgiveness to give. Just time to make for scripture and prayer. What would Jesus have me do seems more personal to me and have more responsibility than what would Jesus do. WWJD may be the ideal, but there are times I’m looking for something I can do, or at least WWJHMD. An honest heart searching for what the Savior would have you do right now, will likely find something for yourself or others. It puts some power in my hands to make me feel I can make a difference, even with all my issues, I’m willing to do something. And though at times I may “only have a desire” He has said that’s enough. WWJD, WWJHMD, the point is to be thinking of Him, and looking with charity, a skill I hope to everlastingly improve upon.
