Give my your honest opinion...
Do guys enjoy the quick - under one minute video lessons? Or do you prefer more depth and explanation like the most recent 5 minute lessons? Also, I would love to know how this journey of doodling everyday is going for you! Were you expecting to actually learn this much about art? Or were you simply looking to use art as an outlet to relax? Tell me, what are your personal goals in staying with this challenge? Do you wish to one day confidently create a beautiful painting? or are you just simply enjoying the meditative peace that doodling brings your heart? There are no "right" or "wrong" answers here, I just want to gauge each of your personal interests and WHY behind being here so I can better serve you! Comment below your honest thoughts and opinions! XO, Christina

Day 20: Contrast
Contrast is when things are very different from each other so they stand out! Artists use contrast by putting light next to dark βšͺ️⚫️, bright next to dull 🌈, or warm next to cool πŸ”₯❄️. This helps the most important parts of the artwork grab your attention right away πŸ‘€ In the upcoming days we’ll explore examples of contrast used in famous works of art. For now, try it out for yourself in your own unique way.

Midnight thoughts
A peak behind the scenes into my studio practice and personal life: Lately I’ve been sleeping A LOT. Resting, dilly dallying, Spending less time scrolling on my phone on purpose. Caring less and less about social media in general. I go through these phases as a creative person where I need to recalibrate. I need to move slower, See deeper. Slow enough to notice the little pores on the skin of an orange. Slow enough to see the veining in my skin. Slow enough to notice every little detail of the real world and real life. There’s this silent war happening within each of our homes. The war for attention. Our attention has been hijacked like crazy by technology. We’re all addicted and don’t want to admit it. The screen hypnotizes you so quickly, zoning out and highjacking your every thought. It’s so important now more than ever for us to notice this. To rebel in our own way by taking inventory of our relationship with our smart phones. To catch yourself when you start to scroll mindlessly, and instead choose to lock the phone and simply stare into space. Staring into space, being bored, letting your mind wander. Looking outside. Deeply noticing the details of the real work, is what makes you an artist. Being able to feel the world through all of your senses. Being able to express what you’re experiencing through lines and shapes and colors. This sacred process of what it actually takes to create art is seriously being compromised by our failure to notice. You can’t be an artist if you don’t notice things deeply. You can’t create a work of art that shows emotion, life and energy. If you never give yourself the time and space to experience that emotion life and energy for yourself. Be greedy with your attention. Don’t waste it foolishly. Be aggressively observant of how you spend your time on your phone. Be strict with yourself and lock it. and remember, don’t feel bad for doing β€œnothing” Sometimes your brain and body need to do β€œnothing” in order to take in EVERYTHING.

Day 19: studying Hundertwasser use of repetition
Copying the artist from art history allows us to see examples of the elements of art - lines, shapes and colors Being mixed with the principles of design - repetition, balance emphasis. Your homework today is to look at the circles, lines and shapes that create this composition and replicate this masterpiece in your own interpretation. You can use micron pen, colored pencil, or pencil. Have fun with it and comment a picture of your art!
