Looking for some advice from those with experience timing modified P7100s. My truck is a 1996 Ram 2500 5.9L 12-valve Cummins. Ever since installing a built P7100 and larger injectors, I've had a persistent white/gray smoke issue. Symptoms: - Starts immediately (fires on the first crank every time). - White/gray smoke on cold startup. - Smoke decreases significantly as the engine warms up but doesn't disappear completely. - At operating temperature, I still get white/gray smoke under certain conditions. For example, cruising around 70 mph (~2,000 RPM), if I completely let off the throttle and then reapply it, it'll puff/smoke again. - Truck otherwise runs and drives well. Current setup: - ARP head studs - Stock HX35 turbo - 5x.01275" 145° SAC injectors (Haley Speed Innovations, <1,000 miles) - Seth Farrell-built P7100: - 010 Tork Tek OFV - 181 delivery valves - Stock DV holders - 4000 RPM governor springs - 0 plate (mild profile) - Pinned at 18° BTDC - Modified AFC (30 psi full travel) - AFC set to 90 cc at 0 psi / 220 cc at 15 psi - High LPC setting (timing lift charts not accurate) - Fuel settings: - Max: 400 cc - #4: 300 cc - #3: 260 cc - #2: 220 cc (current setting) - #1: 180 cc (stock) The shop that installed the pump admitted they had issues during the installation and actually had to contact Seth Farrell because they lost pump timing. They eventually got the truck running and told me it was ready, but it's smoked ever since. Because of that, I'm questioning whether the engine is actually timed correctly despite being told it's set at 18°. The smoke started immediately after the pump and injector installation—it was not a gradual issue. Before I start pulling injectors or replacing parts, does this sound more like: - injection timing being off, - an injector/pop-pressure issue, - or something else? I'd appreciate any thoughts, especially from anyone familiar with timing a modified Seth Farrell P7100 with the high LPC setting.
