Status Update Goal 1: Dive deeper into tmux and vim - Done It takes some time to get used to the the key combos, but practising the workflow the last days was amazing. Will try to use it at work as well to get fluent and more productive using tmux and vim. Goal 2: Research and order homelab equipment - Done I'm waiting for my order of 3 Lenovo M710q tiny. Should arrive today 🎉 Next step is to setup the kubernetes cluster. Goal 3: Working on side projects - Failed I missed this one, but continued with my CKAD prep course instead. I also checked out some other ways to improve my dev workflow, like DevPod and dotfiles repo. Biggest win: Using tmux and vim more and finding other tools to improve my workflow in the future, i have a clearer picture how i want to move forward and what to setup and learn. That's very motivating.
HomeLab Hardware Question (Lenovo/Raspi)
Hi, i ordered 3 x Lenovo M710Q mini i5 7th generation 16GB RAM 256 GB SSD for my homelab. I also have a Raspberry Pi 5 8GB which is not in use currently. Does it make sense to setup the Raspi as k8s controlplane and use the 3 Lenovos as workers or is the Raspi underpowered for that? Or is it better to setup only the 3 Lenovos for k8s (1x controlplane & 2x workers)? Thanks for your insights Chris

@Arkadiusz Celmer Thanks for your input. I'm planning to run apps like linkding, wallabe and immich on it. Second step is to also run my own apps (as testing environment) and monitoring tools like uptime kuma, prometheus & grafana.

@Al Etienne thank you very much for your thoughts. That's great advice! It's a trap to wait for the perfect setup to start, i know. Currently i do the KodeKloud CKAD course and there are some hands on lab exercises. Locally i use rancher at the moment. So i'm tinkering around already.
Linux distro
If you had to pick one Linux distro and why? (I like to see what everyone is up too)😅

I'm currently on mac but thinking a lot about going back to linux again. I would choose Fedora or CachyOS, because i want something new. I used Ubuntu and Debian before.
New journey alert! 📢
Hello, I am Jemal From Ethiopia I’m joining as a new learner with a focus on CKAD, and I look forward to contributing by helping other newcomers as I grow. Happy New Year to this amazing community!! I’ve officially started the Kubernetes Fundamentals course. I’ve heard great things about @Mischa van den Burg’s practical approach, and after seeing other members successfully migrating their apps to K8s, I couldn't wait to dive in. I’m one day in and ready to master the core fundamentals. Happy to be here with you all !!🙏

@Jemal Adem Welcome and best wishes for the exam. I'm currently also learning for the CKAD 🤙
Best Linux distribution for learning k8s
Is it worth starting a k8 cluster using Ubuntu or Arch linux?

I guess Debian is widely used for production systems because of stability i guess? Ubuntu would be my next choice.
