Stop telling people (your kids) what to do.
People often ask us questions and advice. When we tell them what to do and things don't work out, they blame us. Perhaps it is better to (unless it's an emergency or dangerous situation) turn things around and ask them questions to get them to come up with a good answer that they can mess up and learn from. At least then they can't blame you and learn that they have to take responsibility for their actions and there is a lot of value in "keeping" the power of making your own decisions. What would be good "open" (not yes or no questions) that you might ask if they came to you with a question about borrowing money at a large interest rate?

It’s much better to influence someone’s decisions than to tell them what to do. When you encourage them to think it through, they’ll usually come to the right conclusion on their own.
Welcome Relic
A big welcome for @Relic Wessels from South Africa. Relic is his REAL name:) He is an (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy) REBT specialist. You can ask him about it, but it is extremely effective behavior change stuff based in Modern Applied Psychology to improve lives. It works. He has worked with me, like these have also worked with me...Tina and Renée, and Jenny.

"The Vision that you glorify in your mind, the Ideal that you entrhone in your heart - this you will build your life by, this you will become." What are your thoughts on this form of thinking?

@Andrew Nelson In my mind, it’s not so much about controlling your own mind as it is about building good habits so you consistently do the right thing. That’s a tough habit to develop, but it’s lifelong work.

@Andrew Nelson Yeah, it's amazing how good humans can be when they need to.
Watching the Champions League Final today?
We started by inviting one friend...and his small family for today. Then, my extended family was planning something.....so we invited them too. We went from 4 to 7 and now it is 27. Not sure if I will see much of the match.
