What's your fondest memory with your Father?
Mine was playing golf with him. Doing something together seemed to be our thing vs. talking and connecting in a more emotional manner. I do wonder how much closer (figuratively since he's in the Philippines) we'd be - had we had more meaningful conversations. Good news is, I nudged him into opening up/being a much more present Grand and Great Grandfather now!

My dad's a big baseball guy, took me to Reds games back in the day. The 1st, when I was about 8, it was 0-0 vs the Braves in extra innings and like 100 degrees out. It was miserable 😪. Every game after was a great time though. Now he's in his 70's and a couple years ago, I took him to a game with his grandson, and he still beams about it.
🛠️ The "Teach Me Something" Challenge
I had seen what seemed to be a father & son, in my neighborhood, changing a tire together. I can't remember the last time I saw this - except for when I taught my sons how to change a tire. And it inspired me. My goal is to teach my son this week something/anything that will be useful...even if rarely needed. I think it'd be badass for all of us to make the attempt to do some version of this. It may incite eyerolls or a "Why do I need to know this?" But it's the memory that will matter. If you have a favorite recipe, hobby, skill that your son may not know you have, etc. - do it with him and report back what happens. And I'll do the same! (Picture is a bonus)

I had him out there this weekend, showing him how to mow the lawn. It occurred to me that I was cutting grass for money around his age (11). He complained a little bit at 1st, but I think having the power of the mower in his grip won him over. Bonus is once he gets the hang of it, I can take a damn break LOL.
Genuinely curious to know your answer (I promise you - it’s there)
What’s one thing your son is going through right now that you only know about, because he told someone else — and why do you think he didn’t he tell you?

@Brian Walsh this is relatable, my son is 11 & we have talks during activities, like throwing the football back & forth or walking the neighborhood. He's generally quiet like me, so I kind of have to decipher where he's coming from. But he gives me enough insight to go on and I try to drop a couple gems on him. The real challenge is to keep open communication as he matures & dad becomes less cool 😆.
