003, Gypsy Soul, The Arc of Songwriting
Ruminations from a lovely Father’s Day Sunday. The second song of my album takes shape, Springsteen at 25 holds in my head, and I talk about the arc of songwriting and the spiritual side of it all
002, Classical Style Songwriting Can Save Songwriting
My rant on how we can change the landscape of writing music by: 1. Teaching kids how to actually learn music 2. Coming together in community to write 3. Stepping away from modern influences to access how the greats of music did it

I think Suno/Ai is Destroying Songwriting
I’ve done 40 suno songs. And some were great. But I think it’s toxic to great writing. Why do we think automating the process of great songs will make songs better? Sure it could make it easier. But do we complain about a Bowie classic, a Whitney Houston ballad, a Springsteen belt out block party?. The classics are perfect not just because they’re just great songs. But we attach to them because there’s real stories behind the songs. They’re real mistakes and accidents that make these songs amazing. Just listen to Rolling Stones Sympathy for the Devil. Do you think Ai could make a 3 minute outro that takes on a whole different human made direction? Not only that, if you were lucky to be a fan back then, you could even go see those songs live, even better versions of them. Last, as a songwriter, the satisfaction out of hand building a song, step by step by yourself or with a team, is a memory you never lose. The feeling of listening back is what makes me write more. I don’t think I’ll ever shake that feeling, and it’s dangerous as artists to think we can skip the process of what makes music communal, beautiful and memorable for the rest of time, even sometimes long after that artist is gone. What do you all think? Ai to me is a tool, not a replacement to the magic.

Day 2: Over the River | Draft 1, Verse 1
Here is a song I will be updating that I am working on: Verse 1: (new edited version) Purpose: I'm going after work to see the guys, and my girl will be back home. I want her to know I work hard for you, and I need these nights to remind me of who I am. We’re going out tonight to Frankie's house and I just know we'll be alright My polish queen your alone to dream On our front porch crying, just know the things Ill do, I work hard for you I still need the nights when it’s me and the boys we go Down over the river Down, down over the river (original old version) We’re going out tonight to Marco’s house And I can already see the flood lights over valley park When the boss man says it’s all over we’re gonna send it tonight’s it’s what I do I work hard for you On the nights when it’s me and the boys we go Down over the river Down, down over the river Notes -Its best to go line by line after I free-write -The best songs come from simply playing until something comes, then listening back to see if it stick, from there, editing until the words are right.

I want to lead a songwriting and rock revolution. I just don’t believe in music anymore and want to change that.
