🚛 My first real dispatch lesson... and it cost me. 😅
So yesterday and today (July 2nd & 3rd, 2026), I learned a lesson I'll never forget. I've been using DAT to dispatch for my husband as my training ground while I learn the business. Well... I made a rookie mistake. I got him into Tennessee on Thursday, thinking I'd easily find a decent-paying load to get him back home before the holiday weekend. I was WRONG. I couldn't believe what I was seeing on the load board. Loads were paying as low as $1.20 per mile, and they were disappearing within minutes! Every time I refreshed, another one was gone. Now my husband is stuck in Tennessee from Thursday all the way until Monday because of the holiday. It definitely cost us, but I'd rather learn this lesson now than later when I'm dispatching multiple trucks. So let me ask you both the experienced dispatchers Newcomers like me. What would you have done in this situation? A. Take the $1.50/mile load even if it means taking a loss just to get home. B. Deadhead home if you can't find a decent-paying load. C. Stay put and wait until the holiday rush is over and rates improve. D. Something else? I'd love to hear your strategy and why. I'm genuinely here to learn, so please share your experience. What would you have done if this was your truck?

👋 Hi, I’m Sabir Busuri! Hi, my name is Sabir Busuri. I currently live in Minnesota, and I plan on making $15,000–$20,000 per month dispatching trucks. I currently own a business, and I’m excited to get into the logistics industry because I’ve always been around trucking through my dad’s commercial trucking business. That experience gave me an interest in the industry, and I’m looking forward to building something of my own. I want to get these 3 things from this course/community: - Learn how to become a successful and efficient truck dispatcher. - Build relationships and network with like-minded people in the logistics industry. - Gain the knowledge and systems needed to grow a profitable dispatching business. For fun I like to do these 3 things: - Travel and explore new places. - Spend quality time with my family. - Work on growing my businesses and learning new skills. Looking forward to connecting with everyone and learning together!

Welcome Sabir! You're in the right place. I only joined this community last week, and this week I started dispatching my husband's truck. In just one week, I've learned so much, and that's thanks not only to the training but also to the amazing people in this group who are always willing to help. Don't be afraid to ask questions or make mistakes—that's how we all learn. Stay consistent, keep practicing, and you'll be surprised how quickly you grow. Wishing you success on your dispatching journey! 🚛🔥

Excited to Start My Dispatching Journey
Hi everyone! My name is Jada. I’m excited to be here and to learn more about the trucking dispatch industry. I’ve been looking for a career that I can truly grow in, and dispatching really caught my interest. I’m here to learn, ask questions, and gain as much knowledge as I can from those with experience. My goal isn’t just to complete the training—it’s to build a long-term career. A few years from now, I want to be able to look back and say I’ve been successfully dispatching for years and have continued to grow in this industry. I’m looking forward to connecting with everyone and learning from this community. Thanks for having me!
