Study Tip Thursday: The 2-Minute Rule for Blood Draws
If you get stuck on a phlebotomy question about order of draw, try this. Say the tubes out loud in order every day for one week. Not just once. Out loud, every day. Blood culture, light blue, red, gold, light green, dark green, lavender, gray. Your brain remembers what your mouth repeats. This is how a lot of successful CPT students pass the order of draw questions without overthinking them on test day. Try it today. Come back and comment "DONE" when you finish your first round. What part of the exam is giving you the most trouble right now? Drop it below. I read every comment.

Study Tip Thursday: The 2-Minute Rule for Blood Draws
Study Tip Tuesday - Master Order of Draw
Good morning, Purpose Lab family. One of the most common mistakes on the NHA CPT exam is getting the order of draw wrong. This is also one of the most common mistakes new phlebotomists make on the job. Here is the order you need to know by heart: 1. Blood culture tubes (yellow) 2. Citrate tubes (light blue) 3. Serum tubes (red or gold) 4. Heparin tubes (green) 5. EDTA tubes (lavender) 6. Oxalate/fluoride tubes (gray) Why does this matter? Drawing tubes in the wrong order can contaminate your samples. This can lead to inaccurate lab results, which can affect patient care. A simple way to remember it: Stop Light Red Green Light Grey If you are studying for your exam, write this order on an index card. Read it out loud three times a day until it becomes automatic. What is one topic on the exam that is giving you trouble right now? Drop it below. Someone in this community has probably already mastered it and can help you.

It could be: - Studying for 20 minutes a day - Reaching out to one new client - Reviewing one module in the course - Asking a question in this community Drop your goal for the week in the comments below. Let's hold each other accountable. Also, a reminder: Premium membership opens July 25. If you want full course access, extra live sessions, and deeper training, now is the time to get ready. Important Update: Changes to Free and Paid Access
Hi everyone, Before I get into the changes, I want to say thank you. Back in April, I stepped away to grieve the loss of my mom and take time to regroup. It took longer than I expected, but I'm grateful for your patience while I did what I needed to do. That time also gave me space to think about how to make this community better for all of you, and what you're about to read is a result of that. Now, I want to be honest with you about some changes coming to this community. Right now, most of the study content is available for free. Starting July 25, 2026, the full CPT study course, practice exams, and live teaching sessions will move into paid membership. DNA training and business training will also be included in this same membership. Here's why I'm making this change. I want to keep building real, high-quality training for people serious about passing the exam and building a career in this field. That takes time and consistency, and I can only keep doing that if the community supports it. Here's what stays free: - Community discussion - Job postings - One live session a month Here's what moves to paid membership ($19/month for the first 20 people who join, then $39/month): - Full study course and Study With Me sessions - Practice exams - Weekly live teaching and Q&A - DNA and business training - Downloads and templates If becoming certified and building a career in this field matters to you, I'd love to have you inside. You can join here: https://www.skool.com/cpt-prep-with-cherell-5309/plans If you have questions, message me directly. I'm happy to talk it through with you. Cherell
