Early Bird For AcroLIVE 2026 Is Officially Open
For those who are newer here - AcroLIVE is our annual, in-person teachers conference for Acro Dance educators who want more clarity, confidence, and structure in how they teach. Acro is complex, and many teachers are figuring things out in pieces. Before I share details, I’m curious: 👉 What part of teaching Acro feels the most mentally demanding for you right now? (Spotting, progressions, mixed levels, class structure, something else?) I’ll share AcroLIVE details in the comments for anyone who wants them.

🟣 What Worked This Week: Teaching that lasts · Friday Jan 9, 2026
This week, I was reminded how long teaching really lasts. My mom ran into my old gymnastics coach back home in Vernon the other day. The one who shaped me.The one who still lives in my mind and my choices, even now. She asked about me. To her, I’ll always be one of her students. And honestly — to me, she’ll always be my teacher. It made me think about how these relationships work. We don’t stop being students just because time passes. And our students don’t stop being ours either. Now that I’m on the other side of it, I feel it clearly. When I see former students — grown, changed, amazing humans, living full lives, I still see them. The focus. The spark. The potential they didn’t even know they had yet. That connection? That’s part of the work. And when we teach with care and consistency, it lasts far longer than any single season or class. So now I want to know: "What’s something that worked for you this week — a moment, a habit, or a connection — that reminded you why this work matters?" Share one thing you noticed or appreciated about your teaching this week. :) __________________________________________________________________________________ 📅 Coming Up: "The Foundation Fix: Correcting Technique & Avoiding Plateaus" - Our next online workshop runs next Friday from 10-11:30am MDT. If you’re looking to refine fundamentals and help students move forward with more clarity, you’re welcome to join us. In our classes we state at the class “what’s one thing you liked about class today” I’ll then list off things we did and they finish the class thanking the teachers. I had a repeat dancer approach me the other day and stated she loves doing this because she always forgets about the stuff she doesn’t like to do but always ends with a positive feeling. Which is why I started it.
🔵 Midweek Check-In: “So That Plan You Made…” – Weds Jan 7th
Remember Monday? You picked a focus. You made a plan. You had a vibe. So… how’s that going? Back in the studio — feeling sharp? Or still staring at your calendar wondering what day it is? :) Is your focus still holding strong, or did the week hijack it? This isn’t a performance. No need to sound wise or impressive. Just check in with what’s actually happening... and working. "Drop one honest thing you’ve noticed - in your teaching, your students, or your own brain this week." We’re listening. And don't forget to support another member who's sharing - it's always nice to know that others are listening too:) ___________________________________________________________________________ 📣 What’s coming up: The Aerials Done Right student course kicks off this Friday inside the Acro Dancer Skool group. Send your students in — or watch it unfold from the sidelines. Better Aerials incoming!

I went looking for all my videos for recital pieces from before Christmas break and for some reason Apple hid my videos away so the first week is me going “who remembers their piece?” Followed by 😟 from students. It was great. But now all my pieces are done
🟣 Friday Jan 2, 2026: The Habit That Moves the Needle
New goals don’t deliver new results. New lifestyles do. And a lifestyle isn’t an outcome. It's a process — built one habit at a time. With a new year beginning and resolutions everywhere, I want to gently reframe something. Goals matter, yes. But goals don’t create change on their own. Without habits to support them, they’re just wishes. The real work — and the real progress — lives in what we repeat consistently. So here’s the reflection for today: "What new habit do you want to put in place to support something that matters to you in 2026?" That habit might look like: - Committing to a realistic, repeatable workout schedule - Creating a simple weekly or monthly budgeting habit - Setting aside one specific time each month to work on acro lesson planning - Scheduling planning or recovery time into your calendar ahead of time, instead of leaving it to “when you have energy” Tell us the habit you’re choosing to build this year. Not the result you want, but the process you’re willing to practice. 💜

Cleaning my dishes in the evening. So I can put them away in the morning. And tidying up before going to work so I can come home after work and just worry about dinner and dishes
