The book of James tells us to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. This word has been foundational over my years of kingdom life to provoke the reminder that in any relationship, whoever is in front of me to listen first. When I do this, I am being the kind of friend others want to be around. Placing others and their thoughts and needs before mine makes for a better life for us both. You said we should ask ourselves are we the kind of friend others would want? More and more I am becoming that person and I hope I continue growing to be.
