I've watched AI scoreboards for a long time. I've never seen a number jump like this one. OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra claims 98.6% on ARC-AGI-3. Verified leader going into the week: Claude Opus 5 at 30.2%. Top score when the test launched in March: under 1%. If you've been through the benchmarks module you already know why this one matters. It's the problem-solving test, not the memory test. The model gets dropped into something it has never seen and has to work out what winning even means. Three things before anybody gets carried away: 1. Who graded it? OpenAI did. Their test, their agent setup, their scoreboard. ARC Prize hasn't verified it. I'll be very interested to see how much of this holds. But even at half, 49% is a long way past 30.2%. The skeptical version is still a big step. 2. Who's missing? Claude Fable 5.1 shipped two days ago and its ARC score on OpenAI's chart is a dash. They compared against the model Anthropic just retired. Astra vs. Fable 5.1, scored by ARC Prize, is the matchup I'm waiting on. 3. AGI step or hype wave? Only time will tell. I'm comfortable not knowing yet. 4. ✨ Here's why none of it changes your week. The model is the engine.
